The Tennessean.com is reporting that Vanderbilt quarterback Josh Grady has requested a position change to wide receiver.

"Josh came in and talked to the coaches, and really I think he made a smart decision," Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason said after Monday's practice. "It gives quarterbacks reps, but by the same token it makes us better. Josh is a good enough athlete to step out and run routes, put his hands on the ball and give us a guy who understands the offense."

Grady, who worked out at the wide receiver position on Monday, caught seven passes for 89 yards in 13 games as a receiver in his redshirt freshman season.
Playing quarterback against Texas A&M at the end of last season, Grady injured his knee but seems to be practicing this fall without restriction. He played wide receiver for the Commodores in 2012.
