Lane Kiffin worked for three seasons under Nick Saban. He maintained his gratitude toward Saban over the years, but admitted during a recent appearance on This Past Weekend with Theo Von that any early tension he had with the seven-time national champion was his own fault...
quote:

“That relationship’s like almost in a way how you can struggle sometimes – maybe when you’re in it with a parent and then, you get out, you get older and you get out of the house,” Kiffin said, via AL.com. “Then, you’re like, man, he was on to something. He was right on most things. So I look back, I was there for three years. There was friction initially. I looked back, it was all my fault. I’m the assistant. He’s the head coach. Whatever he says, goes. … His way is very, this is the way. There’s not open discussions about it and stuff.

While we loved having Lane at Bama, this shows how immature he was while he worked under Saban.

So many pussies in 2025 who aren’t able to take the coaching style of coaches / leaders like Saban. People - especially MEN - need hard asses who ride you and reward you. His record speaks for itself…wish he never left Louisiana.

Being a head coach now made him gain some perspective he didn’t have before. I can see that.

Belichik, Urban Meyer. The best coaches are always a-holes. Bizarre how Les Miles and O won a nati. Les should've won 2. I can't recall any other coaches in today's game that were as unprofessional as them and won nati's.

No shite. We didn’t need Kiffin to tell us this. We have the mental scars to remember it by.
