Week 2: SEC Baseball Players Of The Week Announced

SEC Baseball Players of the Week were announced by the league office on Monday.

Tennessee's Trey Lipscomb and Florida's Colby Halter were co-player of the week. Texas A&M's Micah Dallas and Georgia's Jonathan Cannon were co-pitchers of the week. And Tennessee's Jared Dickey was freshman of the week.

Co-Player of the Week: Trey Lipscomb, Tennessee Tennessee's Trey Lipscomb became just the fourth player in program history to hit for the cycle, going 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and a homer in Friday's series-opening win over Iona. Lipscomb also had a career-high nine RBIs in the game, one shy of the single-game program record. He followed that performance by finishing a double short of the cycle in Saturday's game, going 3-for-4 with a triple, homer and three RBIs. Lipscomb led the SEC last week with 16 RBI, and he tied for the lead in home runs, triples and doubles.

Co-Player of the Week: Colby Halter, Florida Florida's Colby Halter led the SEC with 12 hits last week and racked up 23 total bases to lead Florida to a 5-0 mark. He batted .545/.583/1.045 and totaled three home runs, two doubles, nine runs scored, six RBI and one stolen base. Halter homered in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday to lift Florida to a series sweep of Georgia State and set career highs in runs with four (Saturday) and hits with four (Sunday).

Co-Pitcher of the Week: Micah Dallas, Texas A&M Texas A&M's Micah Dallas allowed just two baserunners in 8.0 innings to help lead his team to a win over Penn. Dallas gave up the lone hit to lead off the game and surrendered a walk in the third inning. He went on to retire the last 17 batters he faced, finishing the game with 97 pitches.

Co-Pitcher of the Week: Jonathan Cannon, Georgia Georgia's Jonathan Cannon beat Akron 1-0 with a career-high 8.1 scoreless innings on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts on Friday. Cannon carried a perfect game to the seventh before an E2 on a foul ball and then gave up a single. He improved to 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two starts and has yet to allow a run or walk in 14.1 innings.

Freshman of the Week: Jared Dickey, Tennessee Tennessee's Jared Dickey led the SEC with an .875 batting average last week to help lead the Vols to a 4-0 record. He was retired just once in 13 plate appearances over four games and recorded nine runs scored, five walks, a .923 on-base percentage and two stolen bases. Dickey also hit a pair of homers on the week, blasting solo shots in Wednesday's win over UNC Asheville and Sunday's victory over Iona.
