People on message Boards truly think they have a full understanding of the situation of any player or coach. Not even a maybe. Not only do they know, but the Coach is an idiot for not knowing what they know. It is bizarre and entitled behavior that will earn me many down votes for this post.

considering Kirby's dad passed away. I think Kirby likely takes 2 weeks off to be with his family and he will leave someone in charge of recruiting and portal activities.

If you think Kirby is going to take two weeks off to snuggle with his family in their PJ's and go through old photo albums, you are mistaken.

Sonny wouldn’t want Kirby to do that anyways.

It's also not the same as losing a child or spouse. Losing an elderly parent, you take time off work if you have to travel for the funeral. Otherwise, work is not affected.

If a recruit, or a current player or coach goes elsewhere (particularly to one of our "rivals"), suddenly there are cries of horror over what a great loss has been suffered by UGA football.

With all due respect, I don't recall this happening when Bobo left for Colorado State. I agree with your last points.

At that point Bobo had a 9 year tenure as OC and fan opinions were already firmly pro or con. The 2014 offense was actually fairly efficient with Hutson Mason (who threw a large majority of passes less than 10 yards downfield), but recruiting was struggling. The opportunity for new blood in what's perceived as a stale environment is not fertile ground for generating angst and uncertainty.

Buster was a relative unknown which meant unlimited upside potential. And he left for GT. There was at least a component of trolling UGA boards by the loyal opposition, to suggest that they had struck a damaging blow. Some of our fans would probably return the favor if he comes back to Georgia, although I'm not sure anybody cares enough to troll tech fans these days.

But I recall the disappointment in the offense after Bobo left. Remember the OCs we had?

Bobo needs to go or demoted

Lots of talk about getting rid of coaches but no ideas about who, realistically, to hire. An NFL OC or DC won't step down to college level if he's any good. They have 3 or 4 months of little work from February to May. No year-round recruiting and hand-holding of spoiled 18-22 year olds.

I wonder if Kirby's dad passing changed the timeline or if this was just hot air.

Jackasses on the SECR have been carrying on all week about how Sonny's death has prompted Kirby to consider retiring completely, yet the mods let the horse shite continue to pile up in an obvious garbage thread.

I am worried about our football future and that Kirby might see the same handwriting on the wall that Saban did.
If there is legislation that allows the schools to pay players directly, I seriously doubt that our university will see forking out a millions of bucks to 5 star high school prospects as a good investment.

yah, I mean Kirby can walk away at any moment and not work the rest of his life. I mean how many of us would still be working if that were our situation?

They let the trolls have free rein on that board because the admin clearly likes the engagement and increased site traffic. There is no explanation for why they let infinite alters shite up the board constantly with the most brainless topics imaginable. It's a board that exists purely for shitposting at this point.

How many of us are driven and self-motivated like Kirby Smart? The guy is built different. I have a hard time imagining what he'd do with himself if he wasn't coaching or involved with football in some capacity. He's only 49.

He isn’t going to retire any time soon.

The head mod on SECR is a Georgia fan, just fyi.

He's also a decent carpenter.

Kirby isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Are we pretending that the current UGA admin hasn’t been absolutely committed to having a great football team? I don’t think there is any doubt that they would shell out cash for 5*s if that’s what it took to be competitive. UGA has too much invested in football at this point to allow for the program to deteriorate.
