The LSU posters are getting really pathetic. They're taking Bama playing in the NC really hard.

Ever been sheep hunting? The Aoudads out in west Texas are really piquing my interest.

For a second I thought you meant hunting something like this.
And I was thinking... man that is pretty weak.
But this is much cooler.

Duck hunting in East Texas this weekend
Posted on 1/11/16 at 3:33 pm to AgBQ00
I've been a couple of times, never got close to any. We own a place out by Bakersfield and went with one of the neighbors, was fun.

Y'all are confused about what we Aggies are supposed to do with sheep

I've never been for duck. In fact the only hunting I've ever done is dove and quail. Wanting to branch out into bigger game. But duck is also interesting to me.

I have read that they have amazing eye sight and scamper away rather quickly. Do they mostly hang out in the cliffs and hills?

I've been talking about Hog hunting for months. Me and my buds will eventually go do it and stop talking.

Yeah we glassed a lot and it was mainly on the cliffs and hillsides, like I said we never saw any but we had a good time.

Its a lot of fun but its a pain in the arse to hunt public land. Also harder to get started without knowing someone. This weekend won't be bad, but there can be a lot of walking through crappy conditions. If you get the chance I would definitely give it a shot though.

Care to expound?

From my limited experience so far:
Private land is generally very little boat time into a comfortable permanent blind. No rushing to beat anyone to spots, or waiting in lines.
Public land you have to get up much earlier in hopes of getting a good spot, and stand in line waiting to get signed in. You can't build a permanent blind on public land, so we bring reeds/brush and sit on milk crates in the water/mud. You also have a higher chance of having to walk through a lot of marsh with your decoys. Also, if Boudreaux & Thibodeaux end up at a spot right behind you and want to shoot at everything too early and often it can ruin your spot as well.
However, I am by no means an expert, so it could just be that I've only experienced really nice private places and over-crowded public land.
tl;dr Public has a more authentic feel, but its more work during most steps along the way.
