Why wouldn't he?
And we haven't used a TE since Bennett and even he was underutilized. I had hoped that might change with Davis, but I didn't really expect much from him until year 2 or 3

I know no details on his recruitment, but I wonder what our sales pitch to a TE highlights. It's not clear to me why the staff recruits anybody for the position when its ideal alignment appears to be our 4 WRs and 1 RB.

Until we actually start significantly using the TE position in games, it's natural for a recruit to wonder how they fit in this offense. Now if we are making a commitment to run the ball more to utilize the new faces at RB, that's a different story. That could open up some play action passes to a TE. But that hasn't happened yet.

We use an H-Back alot more than a TE. But we don't seem to recruit anyone specifically to play that position. We just take a player on the roster and make do.

Well we just started using the h back. Irv smith would be a great one. Hope we can hold on.

Didn't we play Ben Compton as H-Back last year after Allen took over as QB and Caden Smith this year? If so, that would mean it has been around for 1.5 years.

It feels like this H-Back thing began as a temporary measure due to expediency, but has stuck around due to chronic pass protection problems to become a semi-permanent fixture of our offense.

I don't know if Irv Smith sees himself as a TE lined up on the line of scrimmage or an H-Back. Maybe he does.

I don't remember seeing it when Manziel was at QB, when the OL was better. So it's not like this is something Kingsbury/Spavital wanted to feature. If we trusted the line, I bet it would go away.

Tmc94 has stated that it's something both Sumlin and Spavital have wanted to incorporate and move towards in the future. I am not really a fan of it, but I'm not a football coach.

I have no clue how all these offensive recruits are attached to the hip of Spav. If Irvin wants to decommit once we ditch Spav then so be it. If he wants to join a 5-7 win team then go for it.

Well he hasn't decommitted yet. He cited instability causing concern, not losing Spavital being a deal breaker.

Stability is a legit concern, considering how the past couple weeks have transpired. Our fan base is on edge too.

Irvin said that if Spavital is let go he may reopen his recruitment, but he doesnt know if that will happen before or after signing day.

Why are all these "hacks" on the recruiting sites righting about instability? Is this negative recruiting from other programs?

Our "program stability" is the best in the the state. No other program is in a more profitable or stable power five conference.

Our head coaching stability is among the best. Only Baylor and TCU are close, but they don't have the capability to hold onto and hire staff like A&M. Example: Last year we got Utah's OC to be our OL coach and convinced LSU's DC to take a lateral move.

At QB... We knew somebody was probably not coming back in the fall. The Allen decommit caught people off guard, but the early exit actually made us more "stable".

OC? Would anybody really feel excited to see this offense next year? l'm really indifferent and we have three coaches (Sumlin, Christensen, and McKinney) who could roll out the bed tomorrow and probably call this offense.

Quartney Davis - 4 star WR who had been flirting with Baylor recently.
