This is why On3, and maybe even Hayes Fawcett, is a complete joke...

Our insider was saying he didn't think Gibson would stick as #1. I don't recall if anything was said about Tatum. He felt like Frazier was a top 2 and possibly the best. It'll be interesting. The rankings on Frazier are spread pretty wide.

He works for ON3 which has gotten big fast. My guess is since they have several writers they get different ones to say a player is #1 so then he can always say he wasn’t wrong.

Its all to make recruits look good so they come to him for edits which generates clicks and followers.

But this is a great eye thanks for posting the info!

I assumed they just used any service that rated them a 5 star. The Heyward kid safety that just decommitted from UGA says he’s a 5 star in his bio on Twitter and idk where the heck he is claiming that from. But yea. Frazier had big numbers last year on only 61 carries so I think with him it’s based on more projection than production as most are.

You must be new to this. It happens throughout the year especially after summer camps.

Which would you rather have in your class?

Nate Frazier 5'11 210 PRed as a junior with a 10.58-100m and a 21.62-200m in early April.

Taylor Tatum 5'10.5 205 4.53 second 40 yard dash and 4.25 second shuttle. Area champion in the 200 meters as a junior, with a personal best of 21.70 seconds.

Jerrick Gibson 5'9.5 215 Gibson ran a 4.5 40-yard dash back in the fall of 2022 and also had a 41-inch vertical.

Can't go wrong with either but I'll take the fastest.
Side note. UGA has several recruits who run in the 10 second 100 meters range. Get y'alls DBs up.

Yeah recruiting rerankings happen after summer camps every year and he probably meant to be On3 #1 next to one of them, and the other is probably #1 by composite. Not sure, haven't looked at the rankings.

Fawcett is simply the graphics guy btw.

I think On3, like 247, has their "composite rankings" that use each of ESPN, Rivals, 247 and On3. That way they can "accurately" claim that different guys are No. 1 at a position because the other site said so.

Gibson is No. 1 on ESPN, but No. 11(!!) on On3. Nate Frazier is No. 1 on On3, but No. 10(!!) on 247. Tatum is No. 1 on 247 but No. 3 on each of On3 and Rivals.

Like another poster said: simply stating that somebody is No. 1, even if it is only half-true, gets the tweet a lot more clicks, likes, and so forth.

Rivals once ranked a recruit that didn't exist. Hopefully, you take all this with some level of sanity. There are stars on the helmet, and then there are football players who happen to be under the stars.

That's not for ESPN, Rivals, ON3, or 24/7 to say. That's your head coach's evaluation. Coach Saban is mostly looking at guys who have been to his camp. Based on the NFL draft it's clear he understands how to keep score.
