The '09 class with Bennie Logan, Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, Chris Faulk, Reuben Randle, and Morris Claiborne? I'd call that class a push at best for Bama.

Michael Ford
Chris Faulk (I have seen 1st round projections)
Michael Brockers (1st round)
Sam Montgomery (projected 1st)
Bennie Logan (1st/2nd)
Craig Loston
Morris Claiborne (1st round)
Reuben Randle (3rd round)
Russell Shepard.
Kevin Minter (has potential to blow up this year)

I'd take our top 10 guys from that class over your top 10 guys. I'd take our tackle over Fluker or Carpenter. I'd take Michael Ford over Eddie Lacy. NFL teams took Mo over Dre. With a class like Bama and LSU had, you can't dismiss them being equal, yet, IMO.

eta, additional starters from that class. Tahj Jones, Lamin Barrow, Josh Williford. It looks to me like we got more production from the class overall and just as much top end talent.

It's laughable to think LSU's 09 class is comparable? You really are a complete loon.

There's likely 5 1st rounders in LSU's 09 class.

LSU is one of the top few teams in the last decade. It's beyond idiotic to think the only reason we've beaten Bama recently is because we play up to them.

Don't think there will be 5, maybe, but it is more likely 3-4, Faulk won't be, neither will Matheiu and he's not even 09 class is he?

-Claiborne and Brokers
-Mingo is unless he blows out a leg.
-Montgomery likely
-Faulk is projected 1st in nearly every mock, but it wouldn't surprise me if he fell.

Mathieu was 2010

Bama's class was loaded. It's dumb to think either class is far ahead of the other.

We will have 4 top 15 picks from that class. Brockers, Claiborne, Mingo, Montgomery. Bennie Logan is seen as a late 1st early 2nd. Chris Faulk - Projected 18th overall

Yah I thought about that after I wrote it was thinking 5 from that class in just the next draft, 5 total isn't out of the question, already have 2 and 2 more locks, Rueben not having a good QB his whole career hurt his stock tremendously, still think he'll be great, way better than he had a chance to be at LSU. So comparing Bama has already had 3 and our top guy from that class Trent went 3rd, Mo was better than Dre agreed, coming in didn't look that way, and Carpemter was a bit of a reach last yr, but strangely did rather well for Seattle. We have I would say 3 more locks Barrett, who I believe stock will soar, DJ, and Warmack, another who's stock will soar, 2 more candidates are Eddie Lacy and Nico Johnson although I would not say lock on them by any means

Barret wasn't in that class. The guys Bama signed that did start out of that class were great. They just didn't seem to get as many starters out of it as we did and the ones they did have been comparable in talent to ours, not necessarily better. '08 would go to Bama easily, though.

The last couple years Bama has outrecruited LSU, but I think that coincides with a couple relatively mediocre years for LA talent.

This year the staff seems to be filling needs; I think the class will be better than it looks on paper.

Just hope they can bring in the next class; it may be the best LA class ever.

forgot Barrett wasn't in 09 my bad

Agreed on starters, but talent level of starters was/is better from 09 that is all, also spread across more impact positions

Nope I guess that means Les>Saban. I mean hell just look at the past 2 years in the draft and then realize that Les has more wins in both of the past 2 years and is 2-1 vs Saban. I guess Saban just cant really develop or use his talent as well as Les can.

LSU fans were laughing at a post I made about Bama being deeper and more talented.. Am I missing something?

First, we appear to be getting more out of the mid-tier players (Claiborne and Mathieu just 2 examples) that are not highly regarded on signing day. Maybe that's less of a recruiting issue and more of a coaching/player development issue, but I think it is valid as a recruiting issue as it relates to talent evaluation, getting players that will improve and fit our system.

The one glaring example where this isn't true (as between the programs) is QB - clearly Bama has found some magic to make McElroy and McCarron BCS champion QBs, and we've had 3 years to find a QB who is not a liability with "limited" success.

Over the past 3 or 4 seasons, Rivals' opinion notwithstanding, the "results" of recruiting have yielded almost identical levels of talent between the 2 programs.

LSU has held a slight edge in a corps of RBs (but Bama's edge at the top, particularly TR evens that out). Neither has had (or needed) a particularly outstanding group of WRs (though Julio was a notable exception here and OBJ may be ours - still too soon). Bama has snagged lots of top flight defensive recruits, but other than LB, LSU has done more with less on that side of the ball. Bama's OLine is better, but I think the edge is minimal.

So, more or less = in results (meaning product on the field) with the glaring exception of QB - and that was the difference on 1/9.

This LOL. LSU fans love to through out the .500 against Saban, but never mention Miles record against Nutt. What's Miles record against Petrino.
Head to head is not a good measure of talent level. Ole miss nor Arky had equal or better talent than LSU. Though Arky did have a better coach.

Bama has had far superior talent on offense. LSU has not had any RBs the Caliber of Richardson or Ingram, No WR the caliber if Julio Jones, not close to the offensive line talents of AndreSmith, Carpenter, Barret Jones, Fluker, Warmack, and Cyrus us the most talented if them all.

LSU hasnt had close to the # of offensive All Americans or major Award winnners like Bama. Two Outland trophy winners, Doak Walker, Heisman Trophy winner.

AL has had 5 1st rd offensive players in the last 4 yrs with a Chance for 3 more in April.

LSU has kept it close on Defense, but Miles hasn't recruited any elite offensive talents. Faulk has a shot at 1st rd, but could easily fall out.
