I’ve got to ask, because Anwar Richardson made the statement below in his news report today, Which is true? Fans on here saying they are not spending money and the school telling all of the beat writers in Austin that cover them that they are spending a fortune?
quote:
"we have the most expensive roster in college football, nobody has spent more money in NIL than Texas has. I had someone reach out to me this week and say, we are definitively this year, spending more money on this team taking the field for the 2024 season than anybody else in the country.

Orangebloods = TexAgs. Personally I’m not sure why an A&M fan follows what they’re saying.

That says they outspent all teams for the “24” class. Maybe they had little left for 25?

It was BBs birthday today, plus Fasusi had his 5 year anniversary of his family moving here today as well.

Very nice. Oklahoma doing what's necessary to compete in the SEC.

I missed that, that would make sense if they are running low
On NIL funds after outspending everyone last season

We are on the hook for a lot of $$ with this year's roster. Whether it is the most in college football, who knows? Seems to be affecting the recruiting so far with 2025 kids because we are not outbidding anyone.

Said this 2 years ago but a lot of teams went in deep on those first NIL’ers. They pushed a lot of the big money donors. I got ridiculed at the time for saying it but that used up a lot of future money. Lots of posters said there was plenty of money so it would not be an issue.
Even though there are big money donors they usually don’t spend a ton every year rather they spread it out. Do too much at once and it dries up when they realize this is a never ending money pit.
It depends how hard they got pushed to give big and then a year later asked to give big again - they didn’t make their money by throwing it away. They will realize this can’t be sustainable and start giving less.
Some teams played the longer game looking at sustainability. They didn’t use up all their big donors at once and are pacing them over years. So you keep some donors in the bank so to speak. This seems to be the model now.
There will be outliers but teams and schools have to look at 5 years 10 years and more to figure out how to manage it currently. Its going to be a big balancing act as they need to leave some money for other things like infrastructure donations. So it can’t all (big donors) be used for players.

Doubt it . . . most teams will go the MLB route and max salary cap to win a title, tear it down and wallow for a few years, and try again once the dust settles, The old Diamondbacks/Marlins strategy.

Fasusi is engaging in more and more contact with Texas. He's definitely thinking through the decision right now.

Sark in DFW Head coach Steve Sarkisian is on the road in DFW today seeing commitments and a top target committed elsewhere. Sarkisian is expected at half of the Dallas Skyline (Elijah Barnes) vs. DeSoto game tonight. Prior to that, one of the stops will be at Lewisville High to see 5-star OT and Oklahoma verbal Michael Fasusi. Chris Gilbert is also on the road in DFW, and one of his stops Thursday was Mesquite Horn High to see Missouri 4-star++ OT and Missouri verbal Lamont Rogers. Rogers is considering a flip to Texas A&M, and could be considered a lean to the Aggies currently.
