Randon story. There is a little neighborhood in College Station where the streets are named after Yale, Harvard, Bucknell, Cornell, Amherst, and then there is an Auburn. Every time I say it I couldn't help but laugh.

It is a simple question (from a simple person, I might add) and you could have googled it. But you’re a shitty troll, so lie down and take your troll responses, troll.

Does Auburn receive annual subsidization checks from Alabama or is that just an Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas thing?
Oh the irony of the aggy attempt to troll here.

Ironically most journalists in Alabama come from UAT therefore UAT grads were the ones who couldn't spell it

I think it's a fair question, actually. The primary fields that Auburn enjoys it's best academic reputation is in the fields of engineering, agriculture, veterinary medicine, etc.
Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Cal Tech, MIT, Texas Tech, etc all have great reputations and maintained the "tech" in their name somehow.
I dunno, it just doesn't seem to me that Auburn's mission has changed substantially (though of course expanded). Funny how university changes have evolved over time, though, in Alabama. One of my regrets is that Alabama is just now catching up in the Engineering fields despite having one of the largest engineering schools in the nation (my personal degree from Alabama is in Applied Physics, A&S), but they are now doing well. Similarly, Auburn is catching up in business and other fields. I am curious to see how the VCOM-Auburn medical school develops.
Unfortunately, too many schools today are judged by the amount of research dollars they pull in and not success relative to their most popular mission. In my professional career I have worked with great employees who graduated from extremely small and obscure schools. I have also worked with idiots who had advanced degrees from the Ivy League schools. Ultimately, your success is determined by YOU, the university degree just acts like a door.

Again, the Polytechnic term is antiquated. AU diversified its degree programs where they did not want to be boxed in to a few field of studies.

Same here. I think the smaller schools produce a better product for a specialized field. I think the instructor to student ratio plays a big part. Larger schools are good at producing cookie cutting students for Business, Law and Education.
