Close game luck, much like turnover luck is random and not a predictor of future success from 2021-2023 ole miss was 9-2 in 1 score games, so a regression was coming at some point. Comparing the contenders and the impact close game luck has had on their resume:

Alabama:
1 score game record: 2-2
Multi score losses: 1 (unranked)

UT:
1 score game record: 2-1
Multi score losses: 1

UGA:
1 score game record: 1-1
Multi score losses: 1

Scar:
1 score game record: 2-2
Multi score losses: 1

Aggies:
1 score game record: 2-1
Multi score losses: 2

Ole Miss:
1 score game record: 0-3
Multi score losses: 0

Clemson:
1 score game record: 1-0
Multi score losses: 2 (1 unranked)

All the “better” teams are relying on close game luck and have 1-2 multi score losses. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

We have to beat State by 40+ then need Vandy to beat Tennessee, South Carolina to beat Clemson, Auburn to beat Bama and USC to beat Notre Dame. Not that we deserve it but it’s still possible

The committee putting us at 14 kind of shows that they still really like us. That Georgia win is carrying us

You don’t deserve it because your coach is an idiot. You lost three games by 13 points. How many field goals did he pass up in all of those games?

USC to beat Notre Dame.

Notre Dame will be above Ole Miss, and if SC beats Clemson they probably are also. Those losses to the three unranked teams are like a millstone around Ole Miss' neck. The playoffs are over for the Rebs. Y'all had the perfect setup this year and shite down your britches leg. I don't care if y'all beat us by 70(which is possible)it's over. Just accept it.

Not with a loss to a G5 school at home

9-3 with a head to head loss 27-3. The committee has shown they value head to head matchups when they are ranking teams with the same record.
So no they won’t

OM somehow managed to lose to Kentucky, LSU and Florida. And you want us to cry crocodile tears. There's no crying in CFB. Lane has nobody to blame but himself for bad game day coaching.

Playoff predictor claims ND has 49% chance to get in with that scenario while Ole Miss has less than a 10% chance.

Maybe all the ‘better’ teams know how to close out games. Maybe they don’t leave points on the board going for 4th downs in FG range.

Hate to break it to you, but Notre Dame is not going to drop 8 spots no matter how bad they lose to USC. It’s just not happening.

Why are you so invested? You sound like you’re trying to convince yourself it won’t happen instead of Ole Miss fans.

No, I'm just a CFB fan and realist. You're the one trying to convince yourself.

Notre Dame is 5th in the polls right now and Ole Miss is 14th with one game left for each. The only way Ole Miss leap frogs Notre Dame is if USC completely blows them out. It has to be a completely uncompetitive 30 point blowout. Yeah they lost to NIU but you lost to fricking Kentucky who has gone 1-5 since they beat you and their only win is against Murray State. That loss is a hell of a lot worse than Notre Dame losing to NIU.

Ole Miss is almost as bad as Alabama. Neither team should smell the playoff.

Ole miss isn't gonna get in and doesn't deserve to get in. Period.
