I can’t understand why they push softball so hard but not baseball
Softball is more fun to watch than baseball. It moves at a faster pace, and it has more enthusiasm.
EPSN showed a UFL game today instead of baseball.

It would be but most games aren't televised.
If the demand was there - they would then be televised.

Baseball is not big in every part of the country. For instance in the north, a lot of schools have hockey as their third big sport. Like at Wisconsin or Minnesota, Michigan etc.
Some in the Midwest like wrestling like Iowa. And in the mid Atlantic some are big into lacrosse like Maryland, Syracuse etc

If ESPN wanted to make college baseball more popular, they should come out with a baseball bracket challenge. It would actually be easier, because you would only have to come up with regional winners for the first round.

Baseball isn’t as popular as basketball or football. Generally most people don’t care at all about college baseball.
I enjoy it but it’s easy to just ignore when your team sucks.

minor league baseball makes it so college baseball is tertiary not secondary to the primary pro league
That’s a fascinating point.
I never have really considered that before, but you’re right, especially in larger pro markets where the minor-league farm teams are probably very well known to the fanbases.

Yeah lets grow the game by charging people more money to watch the regionals.

I love this weekend. So much good baseball and a lot of great entertainments all over the country- well most of the country

1. Game is too slow.
2. Too many games played.
3. Best players often don’t play in every game (best pitchers)
I like baseball. I played it growing up. But even when I go to a major league game, I am not paying attention the whole time.
It’s kinda boring.

This is a myth. Softball is faster because it's 7 innings and not 9. And I am a big fan of both. There's a reason why softball has also implemented the pitch clock, the game had gotten waaayyy too slow.

We are living at a time when real baseball, that's MLB to you, is becoming more regional by the day. ESPN is not showing MLB every night for a reason. Bally and NBC Sports is regional and that is the main platform for real baseball through the week.
College baseball will never capture the country's interest. Maybe you get a million viewers for this season's College World Series on the ESPN channels. Maybe.
The only regions of the country that are even a little bit invested in college baseball are the SEC and B12. That's as regional as it gets.

That’s why we all of a sudden have a dozen women’s basketball post on this site every day.
We only have them about the two nationally relevant programs, LSU and South Carolina.
This board is not littered with any other women’s basketball threads.
Fans latch onto teams that are good. Prior to Kim Mulkey most LSU fans didn’t realize that LSU had a women’s basketball team.
It is the same for baseball. The fans of the good teams post a lot. It is why LSU and Mississippi State fans are so into it. They have historically good baseball programs.
Georgia is a great example. The past few years baseball was an after thought for Georgia fans. Georgia fans were not starting baseball threads. This year they are good and fans have started baseball threads.
Compare this to football or men’s basketball. Good or bad, fans start threads about their football teams year in and year out.
For the vast majority of schools, fans only support baseball when there is good, winning baseball to support.

I haven't watched a single college baseball game at all this year outside of a few innings here and there.

College baseball is more like lacrosse than something like basketball or football. There are already minor leagues that take most of the best players, then you have aluminum bats, which many people hate.

The average American sports watcher is a casual mouth breather that probably didn’t complete a 4 yr degree. They aren’t like the cerebral sophisticated folks that post here. Just look at the stand shots on an NFL game.
