re: Why does Texas A&M refer to Texas as "sips?"

It comes from the nature of both school's past history.
Since A&M was an all male military college for a large chunk of it's existence nearly every graduate would end up in the military and eventually get sent to war while the wealthier Texas students/alumni were able to get deferments and stay home sipping their tea.

Pardon me but I think there is a reason it is called Memorial Stadium in Austin. Call them whatever you like but don't call them 1941 Cowards.

I’m just here for a “best little whorehouse in Texas” remake.

Deserves repeating.
And nomination for best post of the year!

Urban Dictionary
1. tea-sip
One who attends or attended the University of Texas (t.u.) in Austin, Texas.
The term tea-sip (also spelled teasip, t-sip, or t sip) was started by students of Texas A&M University (aka. Aggies) in the early 1900’s to belittle the well-to-do students of t.u. The University of Texas was traditionally the “rich” school which pumped out doctors, lawyers and the like. A&M was the blue collar school which traditionally taught Agriculture and Mechanics (engineering).
A&M was all military back then, so a poor kid could go to school and get some money through an ROTC scholarship. The late member of congress Olin "Tiger" Teague was so poor when he was a student that he lived under a barracks (dorm) one semester because he had no money. His buddies brought him food. Tea-sippers thought they were rich but SMU students (who were rich) once hung a banner during a SMU-texas game that said "Our maids went to Texas"

Here is the century old reason . . . . .

The Origin of Tea-sips as told by Ray Gonzales
The term "tea sip" came from our university cafeteria, a wooden structure, unfortunately, named the "tea house" that was located near the Simkins dorm. I even ate there. The aggies saw it and made fun of the name. That's where the name Tea sip came from.
End of Ray’s comments

Just guessing- but since the Longhorns were known as "tea-sips," maybe the Longhorn football team crowning a freshman as Teapot of the year was a logical transition.
This tradition started in 1957 with Hall of Honor Inductee David Kristynik receiving the year's dubious honor of teapot. "Short and stout" were two of the qualifiers necessary to wear the lid of honor, and David qualified.
It was a harmless varsity hazing ceremony that required the freshman teapot to sing the teapot song before dinner each night at the dining hall at Moore Hill. It was a tradition that brought smiles to many faces except for maybe the designated teapot.

I think any anti-war rep probably came later during Vietnam. Like most parts of the country, that era split political leanings wide open.

We weren’t cannon fodder. Generally aggy does what they are told and the military knew that.

I believe boog arises from booger, a.k.a. booger

many more boogers than the average person. Could
be wrong though.

Psuedo. Your a f'n idiot!
There are six senior military colleges in the United States outside of the three service academies. Try Google.
Being that you don't speak German or Japanese you might want to thank these nine institutions that provided 99% of all United States military officers in the last 100 years.
