I think you're completely missing the point here. Rock Chalk has no meaning either, but it does come from the transposition of "chalk rock", which is an actual type of limestone that is found where the University of Kansas is located. That doesn't mean that chant would make sense to anyone who doesn't follow college sports or a phrase that would be applicable to anything but college sports.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on who is missing the point, either way good luck to your Tigahs.

After having the original, witty, and very meaningless chant of "WAR EAGLE" screamed in my ear all day by a cultish, pudgy red-haired lady in a blue jean jacket covered in Auburn flair

This part is actually true. And the same, insane Auburn fan sat behind me in 1998, as well. In a different part of the stadium.

I was cursed.

The answer is that no one knows exactly where the chant came from. It was popularized in the 1920s by the student body, and evolved over time into what it is today. There are a lot of theories (like the one posted above), but there is no official origin for “Hotty Toddy.”
In a way, that is cooler and more interesting than an actual backstory.
