They have before. But it has been a long time. In these litigious times we live in, the next time will likely involve a 7 or 8 figure lawsuit against the school and everyone involved.

That will be what motivates administrations to get serious about stopping it. They are playing with fire. When someone gets burned they will get serious about it. When the home team has to forfeit a win if their fans rush the field it will stop.

Seems to be a trending thing now, regardless of opponent or caliber of opponent. Kids having fun with the players and celebrating.

Storming the field is not a new tradition. It’s been going on for a long time.

But one day someone might finally get hurt so we must stop the fun immediately!

The "before" time was the Camp Randall Crush at Wisconsin. Poorly constructed field/stands and too much fencing was the culprit. Add in a heavy dose of obnoxious drunk Yankee. CR was designed to try to prevent rushing the field, and failed at that in fatal fashion.

Jordan-Hare is literally designed to gently slow but not impede fans from rushing the field to avoid the Camp Randall scenario. The rush Saturday night actually started from the EZ, where there is almost no barrier at all, and was largely initiated by the recruiting section. Camp Randall funneled people into bottlenecks, but at JHS you can just hop right over the front of the stands onto the field or at worst the hedges.

There was a Wisconsin fan at the Kick Six game who had also been in attendance at the infamous Camp Randall event. He had a very good writeup on the differences that I wish I had saved. He was on a bucket list tour of big CFB rivalries, and happened to pick that IB to attend.

That wasn’t the only death. There was one in the northeast where a female student died from a skull fracture due to a falling goalpost.

If either of those happen today, the school probably faces a $10 million dollar judgement and their insurance becoming exorbitantly expensive. They will spend millions more just on legal fees.

And eventually that money will come from fans and taxpayer pockets.

It's very odd, any time there is a field rushing discussion, you have multiple Bama fans menstruating over the practice.

Why do Bama fans get so worked up over rushing the field? They seem jealous of others schools enjoying themselves and not taking football so seriously

Auburn rushed the field because they suck arse this year and finally had something to celebrate. It’s not that serious
