A&M used to be redneck heaven but now most of the students are from the suburbs of the major Texas cities with some rednecks sprinkled in. There are a lot of "redneck wannabes", you know the kids that drive a new F150 and their Dad has a deer lease they go out to but they are from Plano and couldn't even turn on a tractor to save their life.

You've nailed it. All schools have their fair share of rednecks just from being in the south (except Vandy) but UGA has them all beat.

I would take our SEC rednecks/hillbillies over illegal immigrants and surfer/lifeguard valley dudes out west, or coal miners/auto workers up north.
Plus all the hot women are from the South...
and a lot of the best food as well.

Your kidding.. There are people from "country" backgrounds here, but as far as redneck? I don't think many rednecks attend universities for longer than one semester. Define: redneck

Not our fan base. tu has managed to scrape all the scum from the bottom of the bucket. For example, rednecks from Northeast TX love tu almost as much as their guns and disdain for "for'ners" and welfare. If they actually spent about five minutes at the university itself I think they would find their allegiance a bit foolish.

State gets a redneck reputation but the majority of our students come from a good family background with money. They are more "good ol country boys" than "rednecks" at least by my definition. Coming from an Agricultural background does not necessarily equal redneck.
