What the the ncaa tournament should really do to make the tournament better

Keep it exactly the same except make the championship game a best of 3 to be played MONDAY & TUESDAY and then a winner take all if necessary game on Thursday.

March madness is perfect as it is. The more changes we have to it, the less interesting it will get.

The only change they need to to play the National Championship game on Saturday or Sunday instead of Monday. Same with football.

If they could get away with it, they’d just seed all 350 something teams and start the season over in the tournament. Rebrand it from March Madness to August Absurdity.

Because it dilutes all the games.
The same reason winning a trophy doesn’t mean anything when everyone wins a trophy.
We have 4 months to watch meaningless games on TV. Lets not turn the NCAA tournament into a two month continuation of this.
The first two full days of March Madness are probably the two most excited days of the year for sports. Even Sandra in accounting is keeping up with it just because of her bracket.

Making the NCAA tournament is an achievement. A goal teams work all season towards.
The more teams that you let in, the less of an achievement it is. Eventually, if you let in enough teams, it doesn’t matter. It isn’t an achievement at all.
So yes, it is exactly like everyone receiving a trophy. The trophy is an invitation to the NCAA tournament.
If you want shitty meaningless basketball, you also have the NIT. Those are the 32 teams that couldn’t make the NCAA tourney.
If you want even shittier and more meaningless basketball, you have the CBI tournament. Those are the next 16 teams that were not good enough for the NIT.
There are 68 teams in the NCAA tournament, 32 teams in the NIT, and 16 in the CBI. That means 116 teams play in a post season tournament.
If that isn’t enough shitty meaningless basketball for you, it isn’t possible to add enough teams to satisfy you.
