The Black Bear concept was retarded and the marketing people who came up with that should have canned.
The whole point was supposed to be to not make people think about segregation, but then "black" was in the name of the mascot smh.

It's a state of Alabama thing, you wouldn't understand. Eagles. Elephants. Tigers. Ocean tides. Colors. Geographic features. We knew the rest of the SEC was easily confused nearly a century ago, so we ran with it as a state.
As for the rebellious black bear party shark colonels, gender fluidity struck hard there in the last 25 years, and they've never really recovered.
