Huge, well endowed university with beautiful facilities.

Together with Michigan they own a populous region who grow up watching them and wanting to play there, same as our guys.

It's not either of the two thoughts above.
Look at where their recruits are coming from. Less than 50% come from Ohio or any of the 5 adjacent states. 12/23 come from outside of those 6 states. 1-5 star recruit each from OH, AL, and TX. My opinion is that it is NIL money (Ewers collected for a year as an example), and players placed in the NFL. For sure it's not to play school.

They can boost their stats and helmet stickers 10 games outta the year. They only play real competition 2 or 3 games a year

I don't understand how or why some university in Columbus Ohio is able to dominate recruiting like they are. This is supposedly the NIL era where only big-money big-market schools can recruit - that's what we were told.

Yet we have OSU basically taking whoever they want, despite having an embarrassing season last year where they missed the playoffs and lost to Missouri in the bowl game.

Ryan Day has shown time and time again that he can't win the big games. He's a loser.

Why do so many damned elite recruits want to go there?

I don't get it. Everyone says it's about $$$ but you're a complete moron if you think schools like Texas and Florida etc can't compete with Ohio State money. It's something else.

Columbus ranks 14th in population in the entire nation.
It's bigger than Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Nashville, Boston.

What in the world had you thinking that Columbus was a small town ?

They are always ranked near the top when it comes to Players in the NFL & NFL First Round Draft Picks.

You actually think that recruits think to themselves "Sure, Ohio State sends more guys to the NFL than about anyone else, but they lost to Mizzou in a meaningless Bowl Game last year so I guess I'll fo to Florida"?

What is it about many of you SEC people that can't appreciate that others outside the SEC can have positive traits lol

Ohio State is
1. A (very) large school with a large, passionate fanbase
2. High commitment to college athletics (facilities, NIL, etc)
3. Has a history of winning, in percentage as well as trophies

I mean..."what is it about Ohio State?" Really?

And Alabama recruits Ohio.
One of Alabama's highest ranked recruits in their 2nd ranked Class is an Edge Rusher from Cincinnati.
I guess that means Alabama has to recruit Ohio to be relevant.

Silly Post.

Huge alumni base from one of a few schools with great education and great athletics programs which means their alumni have money and are willing to spend it on athletics. Highly populated state with quality high school football. Dynamic coaching staff who are good salesmen with a good product to sale. A historic program that is also currently a top program.

What are they lacking again? I’m confused.

According to this roster LINK. Ohio State has at least 20 players from the Southeast. I haven't yet checked Alabama's roster but there are far less than 20 from Ohio.

So you are comparing the ENTIRE Southeast to Ohio, one state.
That makes a whole lot of sense.
Logic isn't your friend.

If you only count the people in the city limits. Counting the metro areas gives a whole different picture.

their coaches suck so what does it matter? The biggest danger is not Ohio State getting recruits but in Ohio State realizing that Day is never going to go all the way and them going out and getting a competent coaching staff. Day is the ultimate example of recruiting only gets you so far

Ohio State is a great University where they love their football and the players love the school. Once a man puts on that uniform he is loved for life.

LOL. Most fans feel that way, especially the old school fans, but to most of the players now it’s all about the money.
