Couldn’t that multi billionaire build the best program in college football history?

Under the current rules

What is to prevent this from happening?

Already happening. Who do you think bought Underwood for Michigan? Larry Ellison net worth is over 200B He bought it for like his 10th wife who’s a Mich grad as a bday present. CFB is so great now..

We're extremely close right now. Knight is closest, but he still gives hundreds of millions to the academic side as well.

Ellison dropped 15 mil, but there's no indication he'll jump to do that again. It was just a Christmas present for his adolescent bride.

Yellafella said he'd open up the purse strings, but he's only sitting around a billion in assets and can't liquidate the way Knight can. He needs to sell off a company like Clay Travis or Dave Portnoy if he wants to compete.

It won't be long before one of the big ego guys just hands them a $50 million blank check and says "Go get me a championship."

Whoever got triggered by SMU doesn’t follow sports. There were 20 articles on it.

Tennessee has about 5 multi-billionaires funding them.

Nick Saban and the elephants says hello. It worked quite a while for them. The difference now is the portal. The red elephant club could buy players and they were stuck there because of transfer rules. Now they can leave anytime they want. It will be hard for any team to build a deep and experienced roster like Alabama was sporting for years.

There is no return on your investment. If you're gonna do that, you might as well just buy an NFL team or start a new franchise.

Whoever is downvoting all these would love to hear your take on how this is a good thing. Maybe there’s a silver lining in there somewhere. I try to keep an open mind

Most major teams either have at least one if not several billionaires behind them already and/or a consortium on people $100Ms range.

It would frick up the overall dynamics that make it good for the majority of folks as much as everything else the billionaire is doing.

I’ve posted about it here at least 3 or 4 times. Also said they made the playoffs too early because it’s only year 1 of buying a title. Give them some time to buy and build an actual roster.

(Not the first rodeo, by the way)
