It’s an impressive feat but claiming they’re the “best ever” is a false claim. We have no metric for analyzing how they would fare against other top teams.
Sounds like a you problem.

Careful BY...about throwing the ball right into the hands of Ringo for a game sealing pick 6. Ahhhh...I remember it just like it was yesterday.

Maybe if Kirby had put that 3rd spy on Jalen he could have finally won an SECCG against the Tide. How'd that 3-peat work out anyway?

Imagine trying to discount a bunch of young men that went through that and still showed up to do their jobs the best they could during a time like that while many people cowered in their homes hoping the government would bail them out.
This is damning.

I’d put it up there. Just a rough schedule being SEC only.

A strong argument could me made one way or the other for Alabama 2020 or LSU 2019.
Their are too many plusses for both teams to name. But in terms of negatives, Alabama was never tested in a hostile environment or was never out of its comfort zone because of crowd restrictions. LSU's defense was pretty shitty during the middle of the year and giving up 38 points to Vanderbilt and 600 total yards to a Matt Luke Ole Miss team may or may not be an automatic disqualifer for greatest team ever.
LSU fans like to make the "yeah, but by the end of the season our defense was good though" argument, but it's about the entire season and entire body of work.
If you're just going on how a team was playing at the end of the season, Clemson 2018 would have the best argument for greatest team ever.

Honestly I doubt that they are even Saban's best team. One of the best receiver rooms though for sure.
I just don't understand the insistence upon bragging about beating teams that missed practice, missed installation periods for new coaches, played partial schedules etc. In no universe is it comparable to other seasons.

they were a weaker team than the year before and LSU spanked that team the year before.
so no
so no

It’s like making up championships to add to the actual successes. It’s simple. This is the kind of shite gumps do.

You have to be brain dead to crown a team from that season the best ever
Posted on 7/9/24 at 8:15 am to Smokey Okie
In 2020 yes. We all know who the best ever was.

I don't remember the game, but can it really be said that they dominated everyone when beating Florida 52-46?

Great. They won the one and only Fauci cup. Congrats.

Since there were zero cupcakes that year and the SEC has the rep for being the toughest conference...I'd say all those beatdowns are enough to say yes.
Unless of course you think Tuscaloosa is covered by a giant bubble and was the only city in the world unaffected by the Wu flu?
Edit- I'd like to clarify I mean "best Bama team ever", not best CFB team. Best CFB team ever opens a whole new can of worms, we could spend the rest of the summer debating that subject with no consensus.

The 3-peat will be from 2024-26. Georgia has shown in the last 3 seasons its ability to actually win CFP games. Alabama hasn't won a CFP game since the covid season....against an Ohio state team that only had 7 wins total.

Probably the best team in the history of the conference but we'll never really know. China virus robbed them of their glory.
