I think people forget that college hoops are way different than college football. In Auburn's case, a loss won't drop you 3-4-5 spots when it's against the #6 (soon to be top 5) team in the country - especially with the already accomplished resume.

NET is simply statistics based over the whole season so it's impossible for any team to move that much due to one game against a decent team.
You'll see a little more weekly movement in ELO rankings since it has a strong built in recency bias.

How much of a kick in the balls is it to look around the conference and see high level basketball being played every night while you're stuck with a mid-00s SEC caliber coach? Fortunately for y'all it's as easy as ever for a new hire to turn a program around, but McMahon is so far out of his depth against most of the other coaches in this league it's not even funny.

Yeah we're to the point in the season where NET is pretty baked in. You'd need to lose a few in a row with an ugly (Q3) loss mixed in to fall more than a couple of spots. A single Q1 loss isn't moving the needle for anyone in the top 10 in mid-February.

I can't believe Tennessee stays up in the top 5 every week.

The performance stats that NET is based on love teams like Tennessee, Houston, St Mary's that just shut a team down defensively every couple of games.
I don't think their formulas are published but you can tell that holding a good team to 30% FG carries a ton of weight.

Auburn is #1 on the s curve. Alabama is #2. Past that are 5-6 teams fighting for the last 2 spots.
