There's no way the DM would rush to print something for shock value without vetting a single part of the story. It's not like they've done it numerous times before.

The email that was just sent by the OM Chancellor & Ath Dir to faculty, students, & alumni pretty well expresses their disgust over what happened.

Regardless of what happened one of my classes forced me to sit through the Laramie Project when I was a sophomore in college and write a response paper to it. I was honest in my response paper and said the story is pro-gay propaganda and was never treated the same by my professors again.
Laramie Project is a biased story. The guy wasn't murdered because he was gay, he was killed because he was a drug addict.
