I mean, let's be honest, in April the threads of "cope with Pope" were daily.

Now It's January and look where both teams are. We are coping well. Cal still won't wear red or subject himself to calling the pigs. Enjoy him.

Not to mention Kentucky fans only started one of the multiple threads.

There are A LOT of hog fans with an incredible amount of egg on their faces, lol. You just hate to see it.

Not sure what that means, but keep nosing through your shite, looking for something to eat. It's what pigs do.

When you say “temporary Arkansas stuff” are you referring to:

- Arkansas being the laughingstock of the conference in football for over a decade

- Arkansas fans thumping their chests over hiring a sleaze ball basketball coach who was only ever relevant because he blatantly cheated and is now no longer a top 50 coach since everyone can pay players

- Arkansas fans thinking their misery is temporary and that they’re going to turn things around at any time now. Meanwhile they brag about track and field to try to convince others that their athletic department isn’t a steaming pile of shite

Please let us know which of the above items you are referring to so that we can continue the conversation civilly. Thank you for starting this riveting topic of the day

cope with Pope

Arkansas fans boasted like they stole someone's girl, blithely ignoring the fact that UK fans let out a collective groan only weeks earlier when Barnhart announced Cal was going nowhere. They took a 30 mil liability off our hands and acted like they won the lottery.

Most UK fans knew very little about Pope's coaching resume (including me), but he's proven to be a great coach and fit for the program as a former player. He's also a likable guy who's persona is one of high character.

But let's be honest, it's UK basketball and the honeymoon won't last long if deep tournament runs are not achieved.

Agree with everything you wrote with maybe one exception.

I don't understand what Cal is doing. He could have retired a few years ago, become the UK ambassador he was promised, and probably be on TV on Saturdays doing analysis, which he would be good at. If he can't pull Arkansas out of this by next season, the remembrance of his career will be he stayed too long.

Pope will have a longer leash just because he is one of ours. I'm not suggesting that early outs in the first 3 years won't turn up some heat, but I think wherever he gets with this team, most will think he did great with what he had to work with, and so far, he's got to be considered the leader for national coach of the year.

Next year will be interesting, with 3, maybe 4 5* kids and hopefully some of the ones from this years team that can stay, this team might be otherworldly good. Still a long way off though.

Let's be honest, Arkansas fans talked out of their arse all offseason. We told y'all what was going to happen, and lo and behold, we were right. Yeah, you're gonna get some shite talking from us.

It was a chicken man hire. Both are friends.

If I'm the AD then I wouldn't have hired him. But the Arkansas AD is a chicken and so it happened.

Truth. They sort of asked for this for 4 weeks in April and May. Daily "cope with pope" threads. Paying no heed to what we told them was happening around them.

This is exactly what my ND friends told me when we first got Kelly. I thought it was sour grapes on their part , but they were right. Very similar situations.

This thread was certainly something with a lot of quotes that folks probably don't want bumped right about now.

Cal's best days are clearly behind him. His vibe these days just seems distant and unmotivated. I don't really know how much work he actually puts into it. I know this roster that he has is probably going to be comparable to his future rosters, at least on paper. His team is going to turn over every season (like a lot of CBB teams). So the idea that he needs time to "build" is kind of fallacious. I don't know that this is really a temporary issue for Arkansas.

Has anyone checked on our dear Hog fans, the Razorback Reverend and Sultan of Swine? I've not seen much from them the past couple of weeks.

He just seems tired in the little bit that I've seen of him this season. I think he stayed in CBB, wanting to prove he could win more than one title but there's a reason guys like Coach K, Roy Williams, and others have all retired in the NIL era. It's just a whole different ball of wax.

You’re wrong. I didn’t talk shite to Kentucky fans, only when they fired shots first.

I wasn’t a fan of the Cal hire. However, it’s still early and I don’t think Cal at Arkansas is going to end as badly as y’all want it to.
