So they just used a 4.7 multiple on all schools for their valuation?

It states the methodology in the article.
Biggest surprise to me was how low UCLA is...just seems like a bigger brand than it really is. And no one has come close to Texas A&M in the doing less with more category.

the results definitely don't help the aggies rankings

Yeah, I saw that list and thought "Which school doesn't have much in common with all the others".

I swear someone has figured how to write these loses off on taxes.
You think we are losing, but somewhere some very rich men have figured out this game of tax evasion.
You see Jimbos contract as a loss, others see it as a shell corporation for hiding money. We are sitting here playing checkers while others are playing Sheldon Cooper’s 4 Dimensional chess.

It's a damn shame that a racist POS like you wasn't permanently banned.

Really surprised how low UNC is for a flagship school -#40

How in the hell are they evaluating Auburn so low?
If you take the Top 20 on the list, the average Valuation to Revenue ratio is 4.54. Fifteen of the Top 20 have a ratio between 4.33 and 4.73.
They have Auburn’s ratio at an extremely low 3.96, by far the lowest of the Top 20 programs.
The two major outliers at the top are Oregon (5.17 LOL) and Alabama (4.89), suggesting their valuations are severely inflated.
Auburn has revenues listed at +$21 million greater than Kentucky, +$28 million greater than Arkansas, and +$44 million greater than Oregon, yet has a valuation below all three.
Obviously our football attendance dwarfs those three schools. I would argue we have a larger engaged fan base compared to all three as well.
This list is completely flawed.

Damn. State is the least valuable SEC program, but still top-50. It just means more.

11 SEC teams in the top 20
Posted on 12/19/24 at 9:58 am to Chad4Bama
Look at that list and you will see why the SEC is so hated. You will see why certain teams got home games because of subjective rankings. You will see why Alabama is seen as a threat to be stopped
I get why LSU, Auburn, Tenn, UGA, etc.. hate seeing Alabama succeed. However that is different to why the B1G and the media full of journalist from their universities always hate on Alabama and find ways to put down the SEC.
It's always been about money and remaining king.
Our stupid as commissioner Sankey, let's Texas in then gives them the easiest schedule to ensure they are dominant in our league as well.

They used more than just revenue...although it was a major component. Right or wrong, probably the most unbiased ranking you're going to find for something like this. These people are fans of money...not any of our schools.

Yes, the article tells us they also looked at attendance figures.
2024 Average Attendance:
88,043- Auburn
73,392- Arkansas
59,516- Kentucky
59,104- Oregon
Obviously Auburn now and always has dwarfed these schools in football attendance.
The article also said it looks at alumni size. It’s hard to calculate total alumni size but I can tell you what total enrollment was at certain points in time at each of the schools (AU and OR are the only ones with a full historical record on their websites. Arky and UK data is spotty).
Enrollment in Fall 1980:
23,064- Kentucky
18,603- Auburn
17,739- Oregon
15,604- Arkansas
Enrollment in Fall 1988:
22,232- Kentucky
20,553- Auburn
18,530- Oregon
14,001- Arkansas
Enrollment in Fall 2015:
30,179- Kentucky
27,287- Auburn
26,754- Arkansas
24,125- Oregon
Enrollment in Fall 2024:
35,952- Kentucky
34,145- Auburn
33,610- Arkansas
24,462- Oregon
Based on historical enrollment data, it’s fair to assume that Auburn’s total alumni base dwarfs Oregon’s and is substantially larger than Arkansas’.
The article also mentions NIL.
247Sports August 2024 ranking of Schools by NIL efforts:
1. Oregon (okay I’ll give them this category)
9. Auburn
33. Arkansas
36. Kentucky
Again, based on the criteria the article states, there is no reason why Auburn’s valuation should be below some of these schools.
