I'm going to nominate a guy named Hadley Hockensmith...

None of you guys know who Hadley Hockensmith is...

But there was a brief period of time that Eric Clapton lived in Tulsa (during the "Tulsa Sound" hot period of the early 1970s.

Hockensmith got on that long list of guitar players that goes with the the line about when Eric Clapton was asked "what it felt like to be the greatest guitar player in the world"....

And Clapton responds with "I don't know... you'd have to ask _______."

Hadley Hockensmith actually was "that guy" in Oklahoma back then.

At that time, Hockensmith was a session player for Leon Russell's Church Studios...Played in a Christian band, then a Christian Jazz band (Konionia) and then played for Neil Diamond for decades.

But for a brief period... Greatest guitar player in the world!!!

Two standouts. Especially Cale. One of the many artists I regret not seeing in concert while he/she/they were still amongst the living.
