Glad to see the turnaround in his life, but man, what a wasted opportunity.

13 years for burglary, what did he steal?

Actually didn't steal anything believe it or not. He broke into a girl's house and watch her sleep. He's a weird guy

what waisted potential. I was at the Auburn/LSU game where he was unstoppable. Stadium was electric that night

He got 13 years of his life for that? Was he armed with a gun?

I'm pretty sure he got all sorts of sexual charges.. or at least that's what I've always heard.
ETA: Just read a little, I think he was just on probation for a 5 year incident with breaking into the girls rooms and gOt a larger sentence for burglary while on probation.

He got a slap on the wrist the first 2-3 times. He just wouldn't stop doing it. Recidivist Peeping Tom.
As I remember it, he never made any physical contact with any of them. Just scared them half to death.

Burglary is just breaking into a home with the intent to commit a theft or felony. The felony they likely used to fit the elements of the statute was probably some high heightened sexual assault charge. He had done this several times. I want to say he got in trouble a couple times while in prison for exposing himself to female prison guards. He's a really creepy dude

Jimmy Johnson gave him a chance with the Dolphins. I was in Joe Robbie for one of the preseason games with Cecil (against the Saints, if I recall).

When you on probation and you commit another crime generally the judge gives you the new charge and the original sentence unsuspended.i was in drug court years ago which is 20 months had I commuted another drug charge while in drug court, I 3 old habe to do all of 4 hat now new plus 60 months but instead of 60 months probation which would hAve been my original sentence m it would have been 5 yeas I prison, plus the new change , ran consecutively, I would have been looking at 10-11 yes behind bars, for a victimless crime no less but oh well

He was such a physically talented guy. I wish he would have had it together mentally.

Had a guy do this exact same thing to me when I was living in Wilmington. I cannot even explain the terror of that moment when I woke up to find this total stranger standing over my bed watching me sleep.
My very next thought, oddly enough, was thinking to myself in an unnaturally pissed off manner, "This is how I'm gonna fricking die?!"

Louisiana was loaded at running back in the mid 90s (for clarification, LA is ALWAYS loaded at rb) and most people were in love with Anthony Thomas from Winnfield early on during his high school career. Rightfully so, he went on to star for Michigan, becoming their all-time leading rusher and the NFL Offensive ROTY. A-train apparently wanted nothing to do with the competition for playing time that awaited him at LSU (Faulk, Mealey, Cleveland, even Tommy Banks too), so to Big Blue he went.
Around the same time frame, word of mouth really started to spread that the Leesville Wampus Cats had a kid nicknamed the Diesel that was just as good as Thomas, if not better. As his high school career progressed it became apparent that he was quite a bit more talented and was actually relishing the opportunity to go to LSU and take the damn starting job away from Faulk. Everyone knows how it played out, and it is a very sad case.
As an aside, during my junior year of high school (99), we had a teacher from Leesville move to my hometown and take a job at my school. She said hands down, without a doubt Cecil had an extreme learning disability, bordering on slight mental retardation. I can only imagine what he would have been like with proper mental care and help. Frank Gore is a great example of someone overcoming extreme mental deficiency, who got help, and was able to thrive in the big business of pro football.
Glad Cecil served his time and seems humbled. I hope he catches a second wind in life.
