The actual theme song for SEC on ABC

People were upset a few weeks ago over the new SEC theme song that was released. In reality, it wasn’t the theme song. It was just a hype video (don’t know how people don’t know the difference)
Now ESPN has actually released the theme song that’s replacing the iconic CBS song. Now you may properly get upset because it absolutely sucks.

Damn...
They really are cutting costs at ESPN.
Everything about that was terrible and screams "80's Corporate Training Video"

Y'all really gonna make ESPN change this to some trash arse rap song. That theme is classic ESPN.

ABC production meeting
Ownership: Alright guys, we purchased the SEC rights and we need you to come up with something better that the legendary CBS lead in.
Production: Wow, ok, what kind of budget do we have?
Ownership: nothing. We spent it all on acquiring them.
Production: I guess we can check the open source music from 70s TV dramas.
Ownership: That’s perfect, these football addicts will watch anyway. Now how’s the all female booth coming along?

for the life of me I cannot remember ever hearing that music.
But it does sound dated. I have no opinion if I like it or not, it just doesn't matter enough to me.

Yep that sucks. Nothing will ever top the SEC on CBS. Nor will anyone top Gary and Brad.

that's a very slight deviation from the old school ESPN college football primetime song
Makes me think of Ron Franklin

it’s not even that the song itself is that bad, it just sounds SO out of place with modern graphics.

Tell me AI and auto tune did that, sounds like a cheesedick 80s theme song.
People should lose their jobs.

I’ll legit never understand why anyone thinks Greg Sankey has good ideas

On another note, it's just not college football if it's not SEC teams playing.

Going to go out on a limb and say Greg Sankey had nothing to do with the intro music selection for ESPN/ABC.
Reading this thread and others like has lead me to believe that, absent infringing on CBS's copyright to their intro song, there isn't a single intro song people would have liked. If keeping a classic ESPN intro song that has been around decades pisses people off, then anything would have.

Exactly. Everyone here pines for the old days, then they get a taste of it and complain. I’d MUCH rather this than some shite rap song.

The music is bad but what is worse is that it appears there are only a few teams in the SEC. All about Texas, Florida and with a bit of Bama and Tennessee. Not sure how this could meet contractual obligations with the SEC.

For some reason it reminds me of the TV show MacGuyver.

I’m obviously talking about Greg Sankey failing to get the right deal with CBS, not his involvement in the production of ABC’s new intro

Its like an 80's primetime drama, like Dallas or Falcon's Crest.
