The SEC All-Sports trophy is determined using a points-based system, where teams receive points based on their finish in each SEC-sponsored sport. The points are then divided by the total number of competing teams in the sports a school participates in, resulting in a quotient that ranks the program.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Points for Sport Finishes:
.
Each sport in the SEC has a point value awarded to teams based on their finish in that sport's championship. For example, the winner of a sport with 14 teams might receive 14 points, while the second-place finisher might receive fewer points.
2. Total Points and Participating Teams:
.
A school's total points are calculated by summing the points it earns in all the sports it participates in. The total number of participating teams is determined by counting the number of teams in each sport a school competes in.
3. Quotient Calculation:
.
The school's total points are then divided by the total number of participating teams to produce a quotient.
4. Ranking:
.
Schools are ranked based on their quotients, with the highest quotient indicating the best overall all-sports performance.

Big 6!
I get Tanner needed to go because our major sports suck, but when asked what Tanner did right...this is a good place to look at

Basically if you win the SEC championship in a sport with 16 teams you get 16 points, and each team gets one less point as you descend in order to the 16th place team which gets 1 point. If you win the SEC championship in a sport with 4 teams you get 4 points, and the 4th place team gets one point.
Then you add it all up and divide it out. If a school won the SEC championship in every sport they competed in, they would score a 1.000 which will obviously never be done.
I pulled it from these guys, who I believe are Texas fans, so I did not check the math.

Shows where the program has fallen under Stricklin.
UF winning this used to be routine, no one else even realized this was a thing.
Think UF has won it once since Stricklin has been here? And now finishing around 4th or 5th?

So what if a team does not compete in a sport, for example Texas schools not competing in Gymnastics? Seems like a fair way would be to allow for the top 20 or 22 or whatever sports teams compete and you can drop a sport or twos score to balance out for the schools that do not have a certain sport. Should go for all shouldn't penalize a team that doesnt actually compete in the sport. just trying to be fair an objective my team looks like they will win either way.

If this was actually weighted towards fan interest it would be something like:
50% football, 25% men's basketball, 15% baseball, 10% everything else combined.
And even that is being charitable to the non-football sports.

Each sport should be weighted by a "Does Anyone Give a shite About It" factor.

I for one am happy to have Texas and Oklahoma. It makes up for striking out with Missouri and Aggy.

I wish they all would leave and we could go back to an actual SEC conference.
