Would be hilarious if they still all transferred.

Good hire. Will keep the roster together, but also is a young and well respected up and coming coach.

He’s far and away the guy the current players and the former players wanted; they’ve been shouting it for days.
The outcry on social media for him (amongst Ags) has been deafening.
So hat’s off to Trev Alberts for listening.

Gonna be funny when Earley poaches his assistants from Texas and Schlossnagle has to start over from scratch

Start at the top with an open checkbook and hire the coach the players want.

That always works out well

Also, nb4 every Aggie says they are better off and majorly upgraded.

He does have a point…You boys just hired a nobody for a perceived powerhouse baseball program….
We hired exactly the coach we needed and wanted right now. It’s an absolutely fantastic hire.

I can’t comment on that. You may be correct?

All I know … it’s the responsibility of folks w a much higher paygrade in college baseball than mine to make those decisions.
Ags were overwhelmingly unified behind Mike Earley.
It would’ve been very tough for Alberts not to give him a shot.

Time will tell how it plays out.

No offense but what would current players know about the college baseball coaching landscape? Have they closely interacted with Vaughn, Skip, O’Connor, etc? For all we know, Earley was simply not an a-hole like Schloss (not exactly a high bar) and that’s why they like him.

Every head coach was an assistant.
I get it. At Texas, you can take away your rival’s single-most successful head coach in school history like taking candy from a baby

At a&m, you have to be told no by 4-5 head coaches before settling on an assistant to ease the hurt feelings of the players that just watched their coach leave them for the flagship

I’m confused. It went from “we can hire whatever coach we want bc we have unlimited money” and they settled on their hitting coach? What gives?

I have no idea how good Earley is as a coach but this would give me pause if I were an Aggie.

But I do hope the hire helps keep your roster intact.

Buddy, not everything is about t.u.

Also, shouldn’t y’all be busy planning how you’re going to build a new stadium for your new coach?

It might be time to log off and touch some grass. Don’t go to Disch Faulk though…there’s none there.

Sometimes it isn’t the “x’s and o’s” as much as the “jimmies and Joe’s”.

If he can keep the talent coming (and staying) and the kids will play hard for him - that’s all that’s needed.

We are unified in giving whoever is the coach a chance but that does not mean we agree this was the best option. In fact, if this was the best option then we have serious branding issues that are a far bigger concern.

Where was this energy when a&m mad Texas hiring their coach all about them?

Still no response. Guess aggies just hate hearing the truth…

To be a successful head coach these days trying to manage all these travel ball personalities you do have to be a little old school and a dick at times and the assistants are usually that buffer to help manage all the egos
It is what it is
The biggest challenge for earley is managing the whole process so the key will be surrounding yourself with a staff

“What gives” is they wanted Michael Earley.
The folks who matter didn’t consider hiring him settling.
Opinions will undoubtedly vary, but I for one (a worthless metric, I know) am very pleased.

Hadn’t thought about that but I think you’re certainly right. When I played football in high school I definitely liked the assistants more than the head coach.

We won’t know for a while if this is a successful hire, but it’s a good opportunity for Earley.

It's a panic move to try and keep the roster intact. You don't let players and families dictate how you run your program. We also don't know how many coaches turned them down.

Archibald is a sip. The PoS (no I didn’t stutter) thinks EVERYTHING is about them. He should apply to be on the other PoS staff.
