First time ever in Tuscaloosa (his last game on the road against Alabama was the 1996 Iron Bowl at Legion Field and while he started the 1998 season he was fired before that years Iron Bowl, the last one to be played at Legion Field)

Played them last year. They were a very fundamentally sound but over matched team.

They had Rich Rods kid playing QB

I had no idea Tater Tot coached at UNA.

I remember when they were an absolute D2 power and only lost one game to a Steve McNair led Alcorn State (D1AA) over a three year period.

He brought in tons of SEC transfers (Janoris Jenkins was probably the biggest).

I hope Auburn fired Bowden because of those orange shadows on the jersey numbers, and his 1998 record and the affair with the booster's wife or daughter or whatever was just cover.

Those Bowden Auburn teams were so fun to watch. They were a roller coaster.

1997: LSU-Auburn was a top 10 matchup.

1998: Bowden fired during the season.

1999: DiNardo fired during the season.

I always thought he was a great coach. I would’ve kicked the booster out of the cult before I ran Terry off.

UNA had their big run 1993-95 when they won three consecutive D2 championships under Bobby Wallace. Their only loss during that period was to Youngstown State and not Alcorn. Samford did play Alcorn and McNair around that time but Bowden was already at Auburn.

I know this reeks of "CSB" but I have a friend at church who is a huge Alabama fan. If you recall,Dabo was one of the offensive assistants that night. This guy said he was friends with Dabo's sister (remember Dabo grew up just S of B'ham proper). When OC Bruce Arians-- yes, that Bruce Arians, called the play for Scissum for Dabo to signal in,Dabo thought he was nuts. He tried to find DuBose but DuBose was off wandering around the sidelines in his nice shirt and tie with his arms crossed and Dabo couldn't find him. The rest his history.

I always thought it was ridiculous Auburn fired him. He never had a bad season until the one he was fired midseason in

It was a good play call. I'll die on that hill. Scissum doesn't fumble and Auburn never touches the ball again.

Finebaum used to make this joke where he'd put both of his hands up like that (with closed fists), and ask, "What is this?"

The answer was "Terry Bowden mowing his grass."

Hey, you left out Sandblaster! I thought he was better known as Sandblaster than Tater Tot.
