I’m surprised he’s even still alive. He’s gotta be pushing 300 lbs at 5’5ish

Looks like a HS Female Softball Coach. Selfish of him taking a spot from a young coach starting out.

Got to start somewhere.

GA at his brother's old gig is an interesting tidbit, and I also find it interesting that he is 63 years old as a GA.
He just wants to be a part of football at this point.

Eh, unpaid grad intern in his sixties doubt he will actually do much other than breakdown film. Guy just don’t want to retire or go to work in TV.

Pretty sure I heard Terry and Tommy are going to start some sort of Football consulting business where High Schools and colleges can pay them to come in and look for ways to improve the football programs.

You mean to peak their first year and steadily decline after that? Pretty sure Gus doesn't need to pay somebody for that wisdom!

I haven't seen ole Tater Tot for ever.

Sounds like a great way to make money by helping programs commit recruiting violations without getting caught.

quote:One of the reasons his recruiting sucked was that he attempted to shut down Brother Chette's gravy train. That was also why he got a huge going away package--he had documentation.
From what I understand, he was a good game day coach but an awful recruiter. Terry Bowden's gameday coaching plus Pat Dye's players worked well his first few years, but the bottom fell out when all those guys left.
Regardless, after that first undefeated season, his ego was out of control, and he was pissing people off right and left.

quote:Tommy Bowden recommended Dabo (a WR coach) as his replacement in his exit interview. Dabo basically stalked Tommy at a conference to get back into coaching. I don’t think there’s any sour grapes there. Tommy just seemed burned out and was finished with coaching.
I would think the Bowdens would avoid Clemson like the plague.

He was also a damn coward for bolting.
LOL
When Terry Bowden was hired in 1993 to coach Auburn, he was a bright and audacious young (mid-30s) coach eager to make his legendary father proud and make a name for himself.
Everything changed within his first week. An assistant coach from the previous staff, whom Bowden was told he had to retain, walked into his office and placed a black ledger on his desk. It was a list of players who were being paid.
This is how we do it around here, Bowden was told.
Bowden told the assistant coach, “Pay off the players that were promised and never do it again.”
Of course, he did come around and Auburn kept cheating as always, but he bucked Lowder and the powers that be too often. He was forced out, but not before signing an agreement that he would not discuss the rampant cheating at Auburn.

He had Stephen Davis ...who was a Heisman front runner and wasted him. He was interviewed before a bowl game and something to the effect of “We play a finesse offense now. He will have a great NFL career and that’ll mean more than some articles written about him and a $200 trophy.” He completely wasted the guy’s talents and instead wanted mini-scat backs like Demontray Carter. His Red Lobster recruiting dinners were a joke and disaster, etc., etc., etc. He never got another offer because he was a complete and total disaster.
Stephen Davis remains the most impressive high school player I've ever seen -the true embodiment of the "man among boys" phrase. I would have bet the house he would have won at least one Heisman trophy. It had to take some effort to squander that level of talent.

If he was cheating, he wasn't doing a very good job of it. He was taking the rejects that daddy wouldn't take.

My Lord! Tot is going to stroke out carrying that much weight.
