don’t what game everyone with this stellar “hot take” saw but Nico was the only one worth a damn on offense last night.
No one can ever tell Tennessee fans that the kid can’t take a hit. He was used as a tackling dummy out there

He’s a freshman. I don’t see any other freshman qbs in the playoffs. He’s got 2 years to figure it out.
Tenner should and probably will spend every dollar they can get there hands on to win it all in 26.

I watched him closely, in person, vs OU and was completely underwhelmed. If he was even remotely close to as advertised, Tenn should have won that game by 3+ scores.
And if OU had any idea how to use Jackson Arnold, that game would have been very interesting.
Ain’t sold on Nico.

Burrow and Lawrence are both athletic and would run when needed.

Ah, yes, the game where we were playing a walkon LT and 3rd string RT so Heupel made the decision to run, run, run punt every possession to avoid getting him killed.

I'm glad you posted this. Josh Heupel routinely reads the Rant for help in coaching his team, especially marginal talents like Nico. ESPN needs a pundit of your quality.
I need more

The Tenner game plan was to tire out OSU offense and then the Vols would dominate later

Also the game where OU was missing 5 WR, half their offensive line, and an OC calling a pass heavy call sheet with a running QB. Who would soon be fired.

Nico is another version of Milroe in various ways. Josh Heupel will always go with these type QBs. He runs a gimmicky offense with gimmicky QBs. They are made for each other. But they'll never be elite.
True. He's great at piling up empty stats against cupcakes, but once he can't out talent people he gets his arse kicked.

That one drive on UGA was pretty fricking fantastic
Okay?
He had 167 yards passing against UGA. 0 TD. 0 INT. 5 Sacks. 12 rushes for 18 yards.
Longest run was 11 yards. Longest pass was 17.

It's entirely Heupul, he can't develop QBs.
It’s amazing how little people know, and post shite like this. Can you not give him credit for developing Dillon Gabriel?

Vols always have one of those and then lose. AU used to be the same way under Gus.

Or Hendon Hooker who was pedestrian at Va Tech.

14/31 104 yards?
Seems at par with the team.

He just isn't very good. Like the Vols as a whole
Posted on 12/22/24 at 2:50 pm to The Egg
He struggled with accuracy some this year, but in fairness the pass protection was awful for most of the season and the WRs were pretty average.

Re: Austin Simmons
You don't develop the "it" factor by playing in front of large crowds and taking on top-level competition; You relish playing in front of large crowds and taking on top-level competition BECAUSE you have the "it" factor.
WRT, Iamaleava lat night, he looked scared and indecisive. Maybe it's just one game, but I have never seen the great ones with the "it" factor scared and indecisive (Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lamar, Rodgers). They had the "it" factor in grammar school. It's part of their temperament.. Even when they are getting beat up, they don't get scared.

I've wondered if being a pitcher on our baseball team helped him out with being in front of large crowds and taking on top level competition.

Tennessee's best player is ALWAYS the backup QB.

Nope. When your ol doesn’t block and your receivers drop passes your kind of limited and that’s why he rushed for 74 yards and 2 tds.
