When was the last time your school stormed the field and tore the goal posts down ? Who were you playing and was it a big upset or like LSU and Bama, the end of a long streak (was that the last time LSU did that?) or your big rivalry ?

How do you feel about schools who do it ?

I am searching to see when Bama last did it and will let you know what I find.

Your thoughts ?

November 4, 2000: LSU beats Alabama for the first time in Tiger Stadium in 31 years (1969). The goalposts are pulled down, but have not been touched since this game.

I don't think Alabama has ever pulled down the posts.

yeah, they've come down 3 times total:

October 11, 1997: Unbeaten and ranked #1, Florida loses to LSU 28-21. This is the first time in Tiger Stadium history the goal posts were pulled down.

September 30, 2000: The goalposts are torn down again after LSU defeats No. 7 Tennessee in overtime, 38-31.

November 4, 2000: LSU beats Alabama for the first time in Tiger Stadium in 31 years (1969). The goalposts are pulled down, but have not been touched since this game.

I dont think the goalposts came down for that game, atleast not the one directly in front of me. I was sitting in the first row in the endzone, and I remember police surrounding the goalposts holding a string. At first, I wondered why they were all holding a string. Then the first lsu fan got clotheslined trying to sneak between two officers, and I realized the string had alot of value. I also remember the medic cart being parked over the 'eye of the tiger' at midfield to protect it. The other goalpost may have come down, but I'm pretty sure the one in front of me was protected.

Also, Steven, I've heard on several occasions that Bryant-Denny has never been stormed by the fans. Not sure about Legion Field, though

I was thinking the same thing. I sure as heck wouldn't jump on the field (i'm in the upper deck now so that wouldn't be easy ) cause they have like what, 200 police in each endzone the final few minutes of the game !

Wonder if LSU's will be pulled down when they beat Saban at home this year ?

Auburn 2001, fans rushed the field. Not sure if the goalposts were pulled down though.

why would they celebrate beating a drastically lesser team?

that'd be like north carolina rushing the court after they beat clemson.

id say it would be more like Kansas rushing the court after beating Kentucky (fits the analogy better, IMO).

If I could have only had a camera and microphone last year when they beat us in Tuscaloosa.......I saw 90% of them celebrate like they had just won the Super Bowl or Ed McMahon had just showed up at their door.

(ps.......it's all about beating Saban in Tiger Stadium)
