In terms of tenure at A&M, which one ranks higher?

For fans of other teams?

Fisher

Got paid more and didn’t coach a Heisman winner, got blown out at home by Billy Napier , the plaque, etc

What is Fisher's (or the Aggies) official excuse for him not being really any better than Sumlin was?

Sumlin > Fisher at A&M

Don't see how anyone could see it any other way.

When I tasted Meister Brau, I thought it was as good as Budweiser.

When I saw how much it cost, I liked it better than Budweiser.

Sumlin 51-26 with a Cotton Bowl, Peach Bowl, and Heisman

Fisher 45-25 with an Orange Bowl and No Heisman

It isn't even fricking close.

The only thing Jimbo did better was to actually get wins against LSU.

Both below John Sharp, who oversaw both.

Remember reading comments by Florida State fans right after the hire. They called what Fishers tenure would look like at A&M almost to a tee.

You need to do a like-for-like comparison. Kevin Sumlin only coached 40 conference games. Jimbo Fisher coached 48. Jimbo Fisher only coached 22 non-conference games. Kevin Sumlin coached 37.

The only way to do this is to compare like records.

First 40 conference games:

Jimbo Fisher: 26-14
Kevin Sumlin: 21-19

First 22 nonconference games:

Kevin Sumlin: 21-1 (Loss to Louisville)
Jimbo Fisher: 18-4 (Losses to Clemson twice, App State, and Miami)

From a cost/benefit standpoint , I guess you would have to say Sumlin !

You could make the case that $30 million (Sumlin's buyout in 2017) in 2017 dollars is > $76 million in 2023 dollars.

That doesn't make it one of the greatest offensive lines in College Football history. That makes it an extremely talented roster.

A better argument would be that every starter on the 2012 offense was drafted.
