Nebraska fans are delusional. Sad. But I enjoy it.

I didn't make up either list, just passing on the truth in relationship to Auburn. I don't know how legit this is with Stoop, but I feel Nebraska will try and Stoops will listen.

It's just an up and coming name.

How competitive were they those years?

Well at least one year Florida was a top 10 team and went to a New Years 6 bowl so I'd say fairly so.

Though at this point I'm convinced if UK were to somehow win a national title you would say it's because the entire football world is down, nothing to do with UK being much improved from the joker Phillips era

I am of the mind that Stoops has a unique opportunity at UK. If he hasn’t jumped ship already (and he’s had opportunities), it tells me that he has the rare chance for his first HC job to be his last. Think about what kind of legacy that would be…. To be able to say that he built UK from the ground up and sustained a program for decades. I think that’s what he wants, and I think he has the relationships in place to make that kind of legacy happen. The UK job is his, not because he was hired, but because he BUILT it, and everyone around UK knows this. He has literally built himself a kingdom here, and Lexington is a nice place to live. There is not another program that can match the level of personal satisfaction that he could achieve here. I also think the mountain he wants to climb is an SEC championship at UK. I don’t think he’ll consider moving on until this is accomplished…. And he’ll either get it or die trying. Just my $.02.

It revolves around two guys - Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow. I think Kentucky really has to look at those two as a package deal.

Per his comments from his coaching show last night, it appears he’s not going anywhere:

quote:

“It’s been a great ride and we’ve had a lot of good coaches, a lot of good players,” Stoops said. “(The caller) was the first one that had to open Pandora’s box this year and start talking about another job [laughs].

“I’m very content and very happy at the University of Kentucky. We have a lot more work to do here.”

Florida beats Utah.

Football world: the Gators are back!!

Kentucky beats Florida.

Same people: let’s be honest. Florida just isn’t very good.

Every coach who was ever talking another job was "happy" where they are.

That being said, Stoops is too smart to go to Nebraska. He's got it made at Kentucky.

I wouldn't advise Stoops to take it - his recruiting area is Ohio. That's the secret sauce, getting Ohio kids to come to the SEC. That formula won't travel to Lincoln.

Picture from Nebraska, who wants that when you have sun in KY

Sure. It’s pretty similar language to what he said after he interviewed and turned down FSU.

Before his interview, he just told media he wouldn’t address it.

From what I recall he was pretty pissed when the FSU interview seemed like a formality and that he wasn't take seriously as a candidate. They'd already settled on Turner, they only interviewed him to say they checked all the options.

All that said I feel like he could be comfortable with his current build in Kentucky. Might even stay long enough to outlast Cal just out of spite.

Right. I think he was going to interview for Nebraska, he’d drop the “just here to focus on next week’s game” like he did before. He’s generally not one to feed the media wheel.

And what I haven’t seen mentioned much is with the expansion of the playoff to 12 teams, possibly by 2024, he really doesn’t need to go to somewhere like Nebraska to get a playoff shot.

Maybe, but UK is in the division with UGA, UT and UF. Have you looked at the Big10 West?

On the KSR football podcast they were talking about Grumors that Nebraska is targeting a young successful ACC coach. Satterfield at Louisville? Who else is a relatively young coach in the ACC?

If your reasoning is Stoops will leave bc he’s afraid of competition than that’s just an L take.

He already shut down the rumors. Not even entertaining it to get a pay raise like some other jobs in the past. He’s staying. Quit wasting your time reposting rumors

At UK, Stoops could be like what Frank Beamer was at VT.

There might be a ceiling of being in the SEC preventing him from being a Bowden at FSU, but he could definitely have a statue built of him at UK if he stays there and maintains what he's doing. Or even if he continues to elevate the program.
