So, if the SEC is going to allow transfers to other Sec teams...

Have we opened up the door to more cheating? Personally speaking I don't like it, might be a monster let out of the bag that gets a new visit in 5 years.
Just my opinion but commitments won't mean jack soon. You commit and decide to go elsewhere after a couple of years. I see nothing but problems on the horizon.

He typically doesn't quite grasp the actual facts of the subjects that he talks about.
It's ok...that's why we love him.

There's risk to it, in that you have a senior going to a conference rival, that has memorized your playbook and tendencies.
Considering this particular situation, with him having graduated and wanting to transfer along with his coordinator. There's no extra advantage than Georgia would already have.
I hate that he wants out. But I can't blame him. He'll play more and be more comfortable with the coaching staff than anywhere else. As much as we love it, we can't forget that it's a business. I wish him the best.

Maybe but I know just speaking for MSU we've had guys graduate before their SR season.
But the real point I'm making is that once you open a can of worms, where does it ever stop? You know damn well eventually it's going to take another step.

The guy fricking graduated from a 4 year UNIVERSITY. Let him go where he wants. Alabama doesn't own him.

is it a given he'll play more?

What if this were to lead to graduation rates dropping because programs no longer want to accelerate the academics that have led to many athletes graduating in their 3rd year?
Basically, if the kids are just going to try and bail to play for someone else after they snag their degree, there's not as much incentive on having that happen early.

The fact that the player has to graduate pretty much seals the deal on any player transferring from LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, or Tennessee.

Every school has them. I am not aware of many starters that want to leave their school, though. Typically it is a kid that is either not playing or has lost his starting position that wants to leave.

What can of worms? waivers are given all the time for various things. A kid gets hurt after a game or two and asks for a medical red shirt. It is given to him.
That is a waiver.
Now, if Saban had stood his ground and denied the kid his waiver he could not have gone to Georgia. All the SEC did was allow the kid to go to Georgia AFTER Saban said it was ok. Without Saban's ok, this would not have happened.

Dude. You actually believe a College University is going to monkey with their entire academic structure because of this? Something that MIGHT affect 1 or 2 students at that University a year? My daughter went to UGA several years ago with a ton of AP courses under her belt and could have graduated in three years until she added a second major. They are NOT going to change stuff because of this.

Exactly how many football players do you think can graduate in three years?

man the SEC might have the dumbest collection of fans of all conferences.....
this was a one time waiver. Case by case basis.
Question for all of you "the sky is falling" folks:
How many SEC FOOTBALL players graduate in 3 years?
How many SEC FOOTBALL players graduate in 4 years?
I anxiously await the I don't think a player should have any rights posters answers

"When the Alabama football team takes the field Thursday for the 80th Cotton Bowl, there will be a program and national-record 29 Crimson Tide players suited up who have already earned their degree, including three that have earned their master's degree."

Dude. How many grad students leave their teams every year? Very few. You're not using any common sense. There just aren't that many that leave unless they are not playing anyway. You guys are going nuts over nothing.
Oh. And the Ole miss player on Alabama? Is he playing? no? Horrors! Was he playing at Ole Miss? I would be willing to bet no.

and how many of them play?
of course a bunch of nobody's and walkons graduate early. How often is a head coach gonna go chasing after one of those guys????
So again, waiting on a list of all these "recruit-able" graduates....
