Serious Question?

I know this board is used primarily to insult opposing schools, but I do have a serious question.
The Missouri Tigers won 8 games last season and lost every conference game in the SEC. One of the worst seasons ever, no doubt about it.
This season they are tied for third in conference play and are sitting at 16-4 overall on the season.
Could this be the greatest single season turnaround in college basketball history? I can't think of a bigger one, but my memory isn't what it used to be.
I'll admit it...I'm shocked & stunned. Figured we'd be improved, but this is way beyond my expectations.

You should celebrate ...

I would say the 1998-99 Buckeyes. From 8-22 the previous year to 27-9 and a final four the next. If the Tigers make the final four, I’d say that would tie or top the Buckeyes. But the Buckeyes did it without nil, so there’s that.

It’s a strong turnaround, for certain…. but let’s see what happens the remainder of the season before we start crowning champions

They finished 10-3 with a bowl win over a Little-10 team. Not bad...rejoice and be glad.

Perhaps not to this extreme but it kinda feels like the Mizzou Basketball program has been on a constant yoyo going back for some time. Cuonzo Martin was as inconsistent as you could get and frankly, the basketball program feels like the best place to be in the SEC if you are going for "Comeback Coach Of The Year."

There is a to. Of basketball left. Keep winning and then post.

Why wait? They've already doubled their win total from last season, and as you say, there's a ton of basketball left. They've already won 5 times as many conference games as they won
Last season !
I can't remember a turnaround like this. But why wait to post...it's already been a remarkable season.

Is it okay to post now with regards to the unprecedented Missouri turnaround?

I don't feel like searching through years and years of records for every team, but Louisville has had a giant turnaround this year. 8 wins overall (same as Mizzou) and 3-17 in conference (in a conference much worse than the SEC) last year.
They're 9-1 in conference and 16-5 overall. That's pretty comparable to Mizzou's 6-2/17-4.
Both squads have done an excellent job of turning it around coming off abysmal seasons.

Greatest? I don't know about that, but definitely a very strong turnaround. Y'all have a good team this year, and you are playing against some pretty decent competition. Respect. Enjoy it.

Nah. It's like any other board with anonymous posters. It's used for posters to project their own antisocial vices on others and then chastise the other for having those vices.

Mizzou has been pleasant surprise. This type of turnaround should be more common with free agency.

Mizzou and Louisville are both having great turnaround seasons. Louisville was in worse shape, having a few disastrous seasons in a row (which should be damn near impossible there) and firing their coach. They had a big rebuild with their roster. They benefit from a weak ACC, though. On the other hand, Mizzou is playing in arguably the best conference ever, certainly a historic one for the SEC.

It is interesting because you have the possibility for both extremes as we've been seeing this season. Get the roster construction right and you can win a bunch of games. Get it wrong and you can lose a bunch.

Absolutely agree. Polls are meaningless until season begins playing out. You have no idea season to season how teams stack up.

Thanks...this season has been magical and has exceeded everyone's wildest expectations!
