This is how it'll work. Every week either Semo or I will start a thread on the SECr offering you (if you wish to participate) the opportunity to submit your 1-14 ranking of the SEC Men's Basketball teams. And if you want to go the extra mile you can write a brief comment about your team. If you don't want your vote to be public, you can email me your vote (my email is on my profile).
Of all the reasonable rankings submitted, we will randomly select 2 each week to use in the PR. We will announce each week's winners in the PR each Tuesday.
Deadline for your submission is this Monday @ 11:59PM CT

Why are we littering the rant with this? Couldn't we have put this on just the Georgia board?

We could have, but some over there are still getting over the fact that Jefferson was not actually banned

Florida is easily the best team in the conference, but hasn't been playing its best ball. Florida's last 4 opponents have shot a higher FG% than UF and still managed to lose, and the last 5 games their opponents are shooting 47%. Donovan says UF needs to pick up their intensity or they're going to lose.
Georgia and Arkansas have won 5 of their last 6, and in a conference with so many average teams that haven't separated themselves from the pack, consistency is a valuable commodity. Georgia won head to head, so I'll put them 3 for now.
Missouri is underachieving big time. I don't understand why they aren't better. Losing to ALabama like that is just ridiculous, but there isn't anyone in the conference playing that much better to justify being #5.
Texas A&M and Vanderbilt have both played surprisingly well, given their personnel limitations and have both won more than they've lost recently.
Tennessee and LSU have to be the two biggest disappointments in the conference.

UGA should be number 3 obviously with a 9-5 SEC record at the moment. Arky has won 5 out of the last 6, so they're one of the hottest teams in the SEC. Mizzou despite having a 7-7 record has a good overall record at 19-8. LSU and Tennessee are underachieving with some of the best talent in the SEC. Ole Miss has lost 5 of the last 6 and will struggle to make even the NIT. I have no comment on the rest lol.

Lot of UGA #3. I like it. Hope the actual voters give us some props.

While I get the argument that the SEC is down and might not fair well in getting bids to the tourney this year, I really think people who just say the SEC is terrible doesn't watch many games. A lot of the schools on this list are very good at home which is part of it, and there are really 10 or 11 pretty solid teams. Not many easy wins in the league.
For example the Big 12 and Big Ten are the 2 best leagues this year. They each have 9 RPI top 100 teams. That is the same number that the SEC has. Ya we don't have as many top 50 teams but I don't think it's right to call this a bad conference right now.
As far as the rankings, I really think about 3-8 you could rank them any way you want and make an argument for it.
For Example LSU and UT might be the most talented teams behind the top 2 and I have them at 5 and 7. Mizzou has a top 5 backcourt in the country. Arkansas is playing as well as anyone right now, and Ole miss has played a brutal schedule lately and is a threat to beat anybody just like last year.
As a UGA fan I would be nervous about matching up with any of those other 5 in our first SECT game for sure. It's going to make for a fun last 2 weeks and a great conference tournament IMO.
