We know a make-shift schedule was done for 24-25 to incorporate the 2 new teams.

But since no formal rotation format was given, we can only speculate what's happening in 2 years.

Thoughts of what that may be?

I think we will go to a 3-6 model after ESPN sees our numbers for the year. The ratings are too good and I think we will end up getting paid for an extra SEC game.

But I also keep hearing rumors about some super league that is coming sooner than later.. and I have no idea what that looks like or if it's a joke or actually has legs..

I don't think we will just flip the schedules in 2026-2027 and lose Alabama vs Tennessee, Georgia vs Auburn, Texas vs Texas A&M, etc.

3-6 SEC schedule along with a 16 team playoff in 2026.

The 16 team playoff has to be part of the deal.

"Super League"?

My (personal) issue would be everybody involved with the SAME # of members.

& then that brings up what about rivalries with teams not in the SL?

I have no idea what that looks like.. I don't know if that is a simple combination of the B1G and SEC.. or if some teams are getting left out.. or if the Big 12 and ACC are joining too to make 64 total..

I have just heard FOX has been putting something together that will be too hard for any of the teams to turn down.. something like 2-3x the current money.

How do you balance the 4/5 game site issue?
Do you repeat 24-25 & play the same teams in consecutive years before switching out?

For B1G only? I've heard/read that earlier this year with them & expansion.

Example Year 1

2 Cupcakes at Home
4 Home Games
1 P4 (home)

4 Road Games
SEC Game 9 (away)

Example Year 2
2 Cupcakes at Home
4 Home Games
SEC Game 9 (Home)

4 Road Games
1 P4 (away)

Consistently 7 Home and 5 Road for normal teams.

As for the other 4 teams

2 Cupcakes
4 Home Games

4 Road Games

1 Neutral Game

1 P4 (rotates between home and away)

6 Home Games 1 year.. 7 Home Games the next

eta: Look at Texas schedule from 2012-2023, not including 2020

Georgia's schedule would be similar from a home/away perspective

I don't know for sure.. but it didn't sound like it was B1G only. I really don't know much about it at all.. just hear rumblings here and there.

I don't know of any/many P4 teams that will accept a set up without a H/H plan.

Nevermind. You have a typo on the P4 lines.

Greg McElroy was saying with the 2 and 3 loss cluster F at the top of the SEC that means they won’t go to nine games because they don’t want another loss

I don’t know where he’s getting that from, but I hope it’s not true.

I can’t believe people like these layup games in late November vs another late conference game. We just need to accept the fact it’s like the NFL and two and three loss teams will be getting in

They'll have to announce something during the off-season.

Not hard the schedule will flip you will be playing the other side your not in 2026. That’s the only way to keep it fair . Those teams skating by with playing weaker comp will have way harder schedules in 2026 . No one will ever be happy but going to 9 conference games isn’t happening now with how the big ten is being treated the coaches will never go for it . A lot can change in a four year window 1 year you could be playing upper class team and year 4 the other team who plays them may be let off the hook. Nothing you can do about that .

It needs to go back to divisions. What those divisions look like, and who gets what permanent rival to preserve this or that, plenty of talk to be had. But it needs to get back to divisions.

The SEC didn't have divisions until we expanded to 12 teams, then we had to have divisions. Then we expand to 14 teams. Then we expand to 16 teams, and then do away with divisions? It doesn't make sense.

If we do go to 9, which I am in favor of in theory, they are going to have to find a way to balance it more fairly. Some teams this year got sweetheart deals while others were put in a meat grinder. Maybe go back to divisions or transition to pods at least.
Teams with neutral site games as the home team might only gonna get 3 true home conference games in a season. Then the next year they’ll have only 3 real road conference games while others have 5.

I see BigBro addressed this neutral site issue above. I do like the idea of a P4 team as a H/H as the 10th game to balance out the unbalanced home away issue. I just know that some teams are gonna be playing Ourdue while others are playing OHio State.

The rule for 2024 and 2025 was every team had to play one of Texas or Oklahoma then just flipped home and away in 2025. Going forwards they are not going to abandon the Texas vs A&M game in 2026 & 2027.

2025 is the flip of 2024. But that doesn't answer what 2026+ holds.
