What combination of teams do they take?

UNC is a lock. That goes without saying. Beyond that the options are NC State and Duke.

With Duke you’re getting another Vandy but with a blue blood basketball program. Nonexistent in almost every sport aside from basketball. Top tier academics but that doesn’t really matter here.

With NC State you’re getting more well rounded athletics across sports. Decent Football, solid basketball, good baseball. Large media market in Raleigh.

Then if you start thinking why not a Virginia school? I think NC State would be much better than UVA or VT. The North Carolina market with UNC & NC State is superior to a Virginia market containing one of the two VA schools.

For the record, the culture of North Carolina much more aligns with SEC culture than that of Missouri. It’s a key southern state with a large population and it’s only continuing to grow. It’s a matter of time until the SEC grabs a slice of that pie

Sure we can remain at 16. Vandy and Mizzou are out

I'm sure the SEC would love to get into the North Carolina market in some capacity
Isn't the SEC Network based in Charlotte?

Duke and UNC might think they are above the sec academically but I think that would be the obvious two you would want because of the profile it would generate for basketball

I think those two would be much better fits for the SEC even over FSU and Clemson where SEC already has a presence
I think FSU is trying to force themselves into the SEC which they should have accepted way back when SEC expanded the first time because they chose the easier football schedule and Clemson doesn't want to get left behind either

I think if you can grab UNC and Duke than you do that. The basketball impact would be tremendous.

In the OP you mention the size of markets and their significance, and then the coonass comes out in your next post.

Yes the SEC network is based in CLT. Always thought that was crazy how they have never been based in the SEC foot print. Charlotte is a huge SEC town despite it being in the state of NC. They would likely push the UNC-SC series to be a neutral in Charlotte. The opener last season was a hit there. Dukes mayo kickoff game.

I don’t think any school would turn up their nose at SEC money these days considering what’s on the horizon. Texas is as big of an academic institution as UNC and they found their way over.

UNC and Duke are B1G bound as is notre dame.

SEC should focus on getting Clemson, and one of FSU/Miami

Duke is just such a liability in all sports other than men’s hoops. Not sure if they’d even move the needle enough to justify it. NC State has more of a following and would contribute much more.

Could you ever see Duke making a 14 team playoff? I can certainly see NC state making it

Triggered much? What does pointing out Missouri’s lack of southern identity have to do with coonass? You must be one of those geniuses that think all LSU fans are coonasses.

That being said all Missouri people are midwestern. No different than Minnesota folk

What exactly does Clemson FSU and or Miami do for the bigger picture? They’re in states we already have a foot print in.

Sure they’ve had some good seasons here and there but they’re not as big of needle movers as they think. Especially Miami. Hell they’re down there with Duke when it comes to big players

You are talking to one of the most tragic spazzes on this board.

Of course he’s triggered.

Nobody cares about local markets.

I don't know why you people insist with this but it's funny.

It's not about footprint or markets anymore. This isn't 2012.

Duke is like 20 minutes away, why don't they get this market too?

NC State is a public state school in a state of 10.5 million. 37K enrollment.

Duke is a private school with 16K enrollment

This is like comparing A&M to Vandy

lol NC State will never make it. Rutgers has as good a chance as them…that’s their level

Then why’d the Big10 feel the need to add the two LA teams and two PNW teams?

I find it hard to believe the Texas and OU media value didn’t matter here. It’s all about media markets.
