Simple solution that is the best of both worlds imo..
WEST DIVISION
Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Rotation A - Year 1 & 3
Texas
Texas A&M
Arkansas
Rotation X - Year 1 & 2
Ole MIss
Vanderbilt
EAST DIVISION
Tennessee
Georgia
Florida
Rotation B - Year 1 & 3
Oklahoma
Missouri
S Carolina
Rotation Y - Year 1 & 2
Miss State
Kentucky
A & B rotate every year
X & Y rotate every 2 years
Play all teams at least 2x every 4 years
EXAMPLE ALABAMA SCHEDULE
Auburn
LSU
Tennessee - Perm Across
Texas or OU
A&M or S Carolina
Arkansas or Missouri
Ole Miss or Miss State
Vanderbilt or Kentucky
Florida or Georgia - when a 9th game is added
EXAMPLE TEXAS SCHEDULE
Alabama or Tennessee
Auburn or Georgia
LSU or Florida
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Arkansas
Ole Miss or Miss State
Vanderbilt or Kentucky
Missouri or South Carolina - when a 9th game is added
It's not perfect, but it does solve a lot of problems.

That put the eyes of the nation on the SEC because it was unique and the only game on television that weekend. It grew so big that the other conferences were forced to follow our lead.....to a lesser success.
My dad views South Carolina the same way we view Missouri

Back when the schedule was made, A&M could have been a powerhouse. It's not like these things are calculated.

I think it makes sense now. No more 8-4 SEC East champions playing in the big game

The elite teams so far in the SEC are:
UGA
Texas
Bama
TN
Missou
Ole Miss
Of those teams both of you play one (UGA) at home.
In addition, you both play the two worst teams in the conference (UF and Miss St).
Texas has a similar schedule but gets the benefit of the doubt for having scheduled a road game at defending champ UM while Ole Miss setup what might be the worst non-conference schedule I've ever seen in the SEC.
So fair enough if you want to question the schedule Texas has, but it doesn't mean you didnt get a cake walk compared to:
Bama:
@TN
UGA
Missouri
UGA:
Clemson
@Bama
@Ole Miss
@Texas

It should have been East, West, North and South.

12 tops. The Big XII invaders piss me off, and MiZZZou being in the East for a dozen years was the cherry on top.

If you'll give us back Arky and Mizzou, then Texas and OU will go back and reform the XII.

My opinion.
We have 16 teams and it seems the original 10 teams don't like it much, and I don't blame you one bit. So it's up to you guys to figure out a solution that works. It doesn't really matter to Texas or any of the new members.
If you want to only play your 10, then add 4 more teams and make two divisions of 10.
If you want pods, then let's do pods.
If you want divisions, then let's do divisions.
Either way, at the end of the day, I'm not sure there is a way to make all of you happy.
Just tell us who to play, and we will be there.

Wait, I don't get this. Back when we were in the XII, if LSU and Arky (examples) had come over, I would have been ecstatic. So why are the original SEC schools not happy to have Texas/OU? Probably two of the best adds any conference can make.
I think old school SEC is scared, especially now in the NIL age.

Honestly I’m secretly hoping the sec and big go ahead and poach the few competitive programs left and start a new division of football. Have a two game preseason of fcs/g5 schools then big programs only playing each other, no transfer portal aside from bringing up g5/fcs kids. Put a cap on payments and actual enforce cheating violations and get back to something closer to college football.

Sadly, they have to be money-making programs, not just competitive. Kansas State is competitive.

The scheduling format should do its best to keep the founding SEC members playing each other and force the expansion teams to play each other.
SEC West:
Texas, A&M, OU, Ark
SEC Central:
LSU, OM, State, Bama
SEC South:
Florida, Georgia, SC, Auburn
SEC North:
Mizzou, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vandy
Winner of each division is automatically in the CFP. The two with the highest win % play for the SEC championship.

12 was perfect IMO. Needed 12 for the conference championship.

Then why not just leave them in their own conference? If we're gonna invite them, we have to integrate them.

Because Miss State wants to Play Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss and Kentucky every year.. and they can't with new teams.
Because Georgia wants to play Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina & Vanderbilt every year, but they can't with with the new teams.
Because LSU wants to play Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss & Miss State every year, but they can't with the new teams.
It's an adjustment. Perhaps they will like it better 20 years from now.. but right now they hate the thought of not playing the teams they have always played.
In your example, if LSU and Arkansas had joined and as a result, we weren't going to play Baylor & Texas Tech every year anymore, while you may be okay with that, Baylor & Texas Tech most assuredly wouldn't have been okay with that.

As long as it shuts up the people complaining that Mizzou is further West than Alabama and Auburn I am fine

I like this arrangement. I was much more of a pods fan than this wild, wild West arrangement.
