“ The SEC Championship almost doubled the number of viewers that the Big Ten Championship had. An average of 17.52 million people watched the SEC title game compared to Michigan-Iowa, which had 10.02 million, ”

Can't compare network vs cable games.

Alabama has been in practically every championship game since the switch to cable.

Georgia is just such a bigger draw than Florida… 2009 being the exception.

Added the rankings for reference - looks like more of a case of people wanting to see top 5 matchups instead of watching a top 2 team curb stomp someone.

2009- Alabama #1 vs Florida #2 (17.97)
2023- Alabama #8 vs Georgia #1 (17.52)
2018- Alabama #1 vs Georgia #4 (17.50)
2012- Alabama #2 vs Georgia #3 (16.20)
2021- Alabama #3 vs Georgia #1 (15.28)
2013- Auburn #3 vs Missouri #5 (14.35)
2019- LSU #1 vs Georgia #4 (13.70)
2017- Georgia #6 vs Auburn #4 (13.46)
2014- Alabama #1 vs Missouri #14 (12.80)
2015- Alabama #1 vs Florida #18 (12.76)
2011- LSU #1 vs Georgia #12 (12.00)
2016- Alabama #1 vs Florida #15 (11.09)

Everybody just loves watching Nick Saban coach against his son. And they love watching Kirby coach against his BIG DADDY.

Makes good tv

Surprised to see AU/Mizz higher than AU/UGA. Guessing carryover from Kick 6.

And there you have why they were selected over deserving schools..it's all about libtard Saban crying to the libetal media and advertising dollars.
Thanks to the Gumps college football is a joke.

Well there you have it... Alabama broke college football. Wade shoulda said "frick it! We ain't gonna take this train!" back a hundred years ago, then maybe college football would be the pristine, ivory tower it once was.

Keep cryin'... I need salt for the margarita and salty dog glasses.

Really surprised at this one. That was a high scoring shootout, which usually brings in a lot of viewers.

Wasn't expecting the 2 Mizzou games to be midway in the ratings.

Ratings for both college and professional were down across the board that year. Covid, knees and the such.

Okay. Then look at just the ones since the switch to cable…

2014- Ohio St vs Oregon (34.15)
2017- Alabama vs Georgia (28.44)
2010- Auburn vs Oregon (27.32)
2012- Alabama vs Notre Dame (26.40)
2015- Alabama vs Clemson (26.18)
2013- Florida St vs Auburn (26.06)
2019- LSU vs Clemson (25.59)
2018- Clemson vs Alabama (25.28)
2016- Clemson vs Alabama (25.27)
2011- Alabama vs LSU (24.21)
2021- Georgia vs Alabama (22.56)
2020- Alabama vs Ohio St (18.65)

2022- Georgia vs TCU (17.22)

Games involving Bama averaged 5.5% FEWER viewers than games NOT involving Bama.

Bama is a ratings downer when it comes to National Title games.

So a good team is a better draw than a bad team, you don't say?

SEC Championships only involve good teams. That’s why it’s called a Championship.
