Horns down was never specifically a penalty in the Big 12, why would it be in the SEC?

Here's the real (non-aggyfied) story: Every team in the old Big 12 had a hand sign..for students and fans at games, recruit pics etc. About 15 or so years ago (Mack was still coach iirc) we played Tortilla Tech in Lubbuttock...who thought they were clever stealing OU's horns down hand sign so they were constantly doing it throughout the game, whatever. Then we scored a TD (don't remember the player) and whoever it was started doing the Tech "guns up" to fans in the end zone and we got flagged for it. So Mack simply asked the Big 12 office why everyone is allowed to do horns down with impunity while we get flagged for doing another teams sign? From thereafter doing the other teams hand sign was considered taunting...no matter if it was horns down, guns up, TCU's palsy fingers (some frog shite lol) Baylor bear claw..etc. It was never a specific ban on horns down in spite of how much aggy wanted to believe it was and get their fellow SEC people to think so.

We're counting on it. Bonus points if you follow OU and aggys lead and do it when you arent even playing us. Lulz

We’ve had years to decide this. Say no and move forward.

It was decided a long time ago I thought.

If you make those kinds of gestures towards a player, then it's a penalty.

If it's just players celebrating after a play, then it's not a penalty.

Kind of like if you do a gator chomp in a Florida players face, you are going to draw a penalty.

If you are doing it to and with teammates, it is not.

I wish I could find the LSU fan in the end zone seats flipping off the Tide in disgust after a TD. That was a classic. I think that was in 2016 and that was when I understood Louisiana man's full hatred of all things Alabama and I respected it.

Perhaps we should flood the SEC offices with horns down insignia, email, snail mail, whatever. And then some of you rich baws put up some billboards in Birmingham...

Willing to bet that Horns down becomes the calling card of the entire SEC. Cant wait for 100K fans throwing em at sippy. They are weak minded fanbase and are easily sent home. When things start going bad, their fans typically revolt.

Horns down by whom? The players or the fans. This came up on media day last season and it was immediately put in the Gator Chomp and Landshark gesture. There are a lot of ways for players to taunt opponents on the field. If a ref thinks that's what's going on you are getting a 15 penalty. Regardless of the gesture. Taunting is taunting, period. But by the players.

Fans of opponents have been giving the Gator Chomp and the Landshark gesture for years. I'm not aware of refs warning the fans or throwing a flag. Does anyone else?

In the 2009 SECCG, I remember Julio Jones and Mark Ingram giving the Gator Chomp on the sideline at the end of the game while Tebow was crying on the other side. They weren't in another player's face when they did it. No penalty.
