THIS. The only mistake Sheridan made was promoting his appearance when he wasn't able to reveal the info he has. In fact, that's the mistake he's made in all 3 of his appearances. Why not just tweet about the info you have and then just shut up about it unless you can elaborate on the info you have. He was dumb to go on Finebaum knowing he couldn't elaborate. That's just setting yourself up for ridicule.
The point that everyone is missing is that Sheridan is claiming to have sources at the NCAA that claim to know who the bagman is and have a witness as well. The bigger question is has the bagman or the witness sung to the NCAA?? It doesn't sound like that has happened yet but they obviously think they know exactly who these 2 important people are. The better question to ask is whether or not these people will talk to the NCAA. If the NCAA knows who these people are they still have a few years to have these people go on the record before the SOL runs out.

Yes, that is how it started. It evolved into "I know who they are" and then further into "I'm gonna come on Finebaum and tell everyone who they are"....then 2 days before his appearance that had been promoted...by himself for a couple of weeks, he started backtracking and now we have a scenario that looks exactly like that other douche who claimed to have tapes...hid behind his "lawyers", and when his whole career came apart and he was being ushered into obscurity, the only thing he had to do to rescue himself was to release the tapes...which he didn't do, proving he never had them to begin with. These 2 situations are eerily similar. Only we already knew that guy was a nutcase...this just doesn't seem to fit with DS.

The NCAA has a powerful tool in its bag: if it knows who gave Newton the money it can alert the IRS.

That's PARTLY true. However, both those situations are similar in a couple of other ways as well. Mainly that people have misquoted what Sheridan and Scott Moore claimed. In late July Sheridan said he would probably have the bagman's name in 2 or 3 weeks and HE MAY OR MAY NOT reveal it on his next appearance. He CLEARLY made that distinction if you hear the tape from his late July appearance. From that standpoint, he's still been 100% truthful in doing/not doing what he said he would do/not do.
Same with Scott Moore. He only claimed that he has heard "the tapes" and hoped to reveal them but he also commented that those tapes were in someone else's possession.
In BOTH cases, Sheridan and Moore claimed to have come upon information that depended on a 3rd party to act on. An NCAA source in Sheridan's case and an MSU booster(s) in Moore's case. The biggest mistake both made is relying on a 3rd party to acting on the info those 3rd parties gave them. When you have to rely on others to prove or back up your story you run the risk of them not doing so and leaving you out to dry. That's what has happened in these 2 cases. It doesn't mean Sheridan and Moore are liars. It just means they were foolish enough to go on the record about allegations where the evidence for those allegations were under someone else's control.

there's one major element to this story.... the alleged bagman may not even a real bagman. the guy may not even be a damn witness... Sheridan is ONLY CLAIMING that he was told -A- name.... he can't speak to its validity concerning the story with the Newtons.

I didn't read the whole post but this part is totally wrong. When Alabama was getting investigated for Means information was leaking out like crazy. Tennstud posted the exact sanctions the day before they were announced.
That said, Sheridan is a tool and let's play some football.
