Rewatching the 2014 BCS National Championship Game...

I had forgotten just how close Auburn was to winning the national championship for 2013-14. They went ahead 31-27 over FSU with just 1:19 remaining. The Seminoles had to score a touchdown and Auburn let them march right down the field to do just that. Since that game the Auburn Tigers have been on a slow and steady decline. Maybe Hugh Freeze can get them out of the rut in 2025 but it's been six years since Auburn has won more than six games in a season.

I will still never understand why Malzahn abandoned his core offense. The genius was in how simplistic it was. And yet he felt the need to overcomplicate it and add new wrinkles until 3 years after that game it looked nothing like the offenses that took AU to two national title games.

I screamed at the TV that FSU was about to fake the punt and I guess Gus couldn’t hear me. That was the turning point of the game.
We were up 21-3 at one point and they couldn’t stop us.

The refs did everything in their power to stall out Auburn after they went up 21-3, and ensure a competitive game in the 2nd half by bailing out FSU on a few calls. Pretty typical for FSU, all three of their titles were gifts where they weren't close to being the best team each year

Is that the game where the Auburn assistant picked up FSU signals?
