The vast majority of these schools or companies shutting down their DEI offices are trying to head off lawsuits. SCOTUS ruling against affirmative action last year and the Muldrow v City of St. Louis scared all of these people shitless. The institutions are full of people who love DEI but they don't like losing millions in lawsuits even more.

Yeah, DEI is actually illegal due to the civil rights movement.
I don't know if democrats will ever stop fighting against civil rights. Over 100+ years of the crap and people are still dumb enough to buy into it.

Having been in management in the Federal Government, I can tell you that DEI is alive and well there. In my agency, most of the people promoted to senior leadership got their jobs solely on the basis of being a minority and/or female.
Whether they had experience, education or superior intellect was completely irrelevant. From what I’ve seen/read/heard from other agencies, it’s very similar there too. Not EVERY DEI hire/selection were bad hires, but easily 3/4 are or were incompetent boobs.
