Reggie Jackson is the one making the claim in your "SEC article", you moron.

No shite, The article isn't about Reggie Jackson being the racist, dumb arse.

quote:

No, your racist arse wanted to come in here and make racist accusations against and SEC icon who has been dead for 41 years.

All I did was post an article. I didn't make any accusations.

Don't want to talk about Reggie Jackson? Don't make threads with the title: Reggie Jackson said Bear Bryant once called him a "n..... boy

I already said the comments section is the proper area to discuss Reggie being a racist.

quote:

How stupid are you? You literally have Reggie Jackson in the title, then say, don't talk about him. STFU, you racist imbecile.

I don't care if Reggie Jackson or Bear Bryant were/are racist. All I did was post an article. Your first comment was Reggie shouldn't be discussing racism due to him being a superstar.

Why are you trying to stir shite? Nothing from my comment you quoted would infer that was my meaning. Maybe YOU are projecting. Ever considered that angle?

It's an easy jab? I mean, the man was just talking about how hard it was in the sixties and seventies. Let me guess, "he should just stay quiet if he knows what's good for him".

You are either a liar or an idiot. I suspect equal parts,

My first comment was, Reggie Jackson does not need to be discussing racism, because he is and always has been a bitter racist piece of shite. Like you.

You wanted to stir racism on the board with an "Evil Ol' Whitey Bear Bryant was mean to Reggie Jackson" bullshite thread.

I rest my case.

quote:

Bear got it right about Reggie.

Jackson hollering about all the "racism and hate" he faced.

BULLfrickINGSHIT!

He was one of the highest paid players. He was all over televison. On every magazine cover. Dated White women almost exclusively. Reggie hats, jerseys, and other merchandise everywhere. He even had his own damn candy bar.

How did he act? Like a racist jackass.

Oppressed my arse.

Yes, being idolized to the point of hero worship was so hard on that racist piece of shite.

frick Reggie Jackson. Racist shite stain on the fabric of humanity.

As has been said in this thread. Even his teammates found him to be an insufferable SOB. He pulled the race card anytime something did not go his way.

Bama was among first in bball, after vandy. Nobody cared about integration at struggling programs.

Reggie Jackson was from Philly and I'm sure the South was a cultural shock in that timeframe. It's understandable to try to verbalize how it all looked and felt so many decades ago. That was after all what they were doing at Rickwood Field the other night. But you better be careful that translates to who these people were and what they stood for in sports. Reggie has that responsibility as well.

Sports is life and it always translates exactly the way life was going at the time. Coach Bryant did his best to get black athletes at the Capstone. He had to do it over George Wallace's standing on the doorstep of the University of Alabama saying hell no. Wendell Hudson was first in 1969 for our basketball team and Coach Bryant as AD told CM Newston to get him. Wilbur Jackson was already signed and sitting in the stands in Legion Field when BAMA played USC in 1970. Freshman couldn't play varsity. So much for that myth.

Coach Bryant always wanted the best athletes in the state at BAMA, since forever, but life had to change to make that possible in the South for every SEC program.

By the way, I seriously doubt Reggie Jackson knows any of this historical narrative or even cares. I happen to.

I doubt Bryant ever said that.

There’s no doubt in my mind it happened, but I don’t for a second believe the Bear meant any insult. It’s a reflection of how casually slurs were thrown around at the time. Bear, was, for all intents and purposes, very much a moderate and likely a progressive on race. Hell he’d have played a Martian if it helped him to win.

I get that people want to bag on Reggie but keep in mind he put up with a lot of shite for his race. I’d be bitter about it too.
