Ole miss, uga, bama, auburn. Lsu isnt that fratty, we have a small greek presence so i cant compare it to tenn and other sec east schools.

I would figure uf eould be more fratty just cus thay have a shite load of people. They prob have more people in frats than lsu.

In my personal experience, I'd rank the ones I know like this:

1. Ole Miss: Seems like everyone I have ever met from there is/was Greek.

2. Bama: Many people are in frats/sororities and the Greek system really seems to run the show.

drop off

3. Georgia: Lots of greeks, but a good many who are not.

4. Auburn: Lots of greeks, but lots of independents also, not much "pressure" to go greek.

5. Arkansas: Greeks definitely have influence, but lots of other groups as well.

Those are the only ones I feel confident about...in brief trips to South Carolina I'd put it around Auburn level. Florida seemed less so. No idea about the others b/c I haven't ever been there and don't know very many folks from those schools.

LSU: 12% B
this is wrong. we are 20 percent greek, although it seems like its more than that since a lot of non-greeks can pass for greeks.

and based off of going to a game at almost every school

1. Ole Miss
2. Bama
3. UGA
4. Auburn
5. LSU/USC tie
7. Miss st
8. Tenn
9. Vandy
10. Florida
11. Arkansas
12. Kentucky

it doesnt matter. Florida greeks are like the greeks in big 10 schools. Hair gel and jerseys on gamedays. Yalls student body is terrible.

USCe would have a good system but their administration seems hellbound to ruin it.

South Milledge is frattttttt as frick.

Also, I'm pretty sure this exact topic was rehashed at least 9,000 times on fratty.net

First, don't care about the fratiness title of the SEC. However, with UF having the largest largest number of Greek organizations why do people say we are so down on the fratness list.

I'm good with it, I just wonder why?

"Fratty" signifies the everyone dressing up in the same nice slacks/shorts, nice shirt, flip flops/same shoes, and everyone wearing basically the same sunglasses. A fratty school is one that has many of these types. I was for the record in one of these frats at Alabama and enjoyed it but looking back realized how superficial a lot of it was.

Florida just isn't fratty in this sense. My brother was in an Old Row fraternity at Bama the year Spurrier took his first Florida team team to Tuscaloosa in 1990. A few of the guys from the Florida chapter of his fraternity showed up to their fraternity house pregame in blue jean shorts, gold chain, and orange tank tops with their Greek letters on the tank top. He said they were nice enough guys but they couldn't help but chuckle at their attire because it so perfectly nailed one of the Florida fanbase stereotypes even back then.

LSU has thrown the best ones off and only let them come back as shells of their former selves.

How many good fraternities are there right now at LSU? Not many. They are scared shitless of your anti-greek administration.

I'd say theres 8 or 9 good fraternities here, but our greek system is growing again. I think almost 1/3rd of the incoming freshman rushed...and the anti greek administration is spreading to all schools. even the machine at bama will crumble one day at this rate. hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, there was a time at Arkansas when you couldn't have distinguished its student section from Ole Miss. I remember nothing but blue blazers up until the early 90s.

Its rare to see that now. You'll see a few, but nothing like a block of frats. Way more integrated and mixed. Many of my friends at Arkansas were greek but there really wasn't such a thing as "gameday attire" back then. Mid 90s, people would sort of "dress up" (even GDIs). Somewhere along the way that even dried up. Nobody gives a frick anymore.

I was in a fraternity at Bama and UA is extremely greek. There are quite a number of students not greek but there seems to be some tension between the two groups. To be honest more of the tension comes from the GDI's towards the greeks. I for one had friends in the fraternity and not in the fraternity. Any "old money"/"old south" type schools like Ole Miss and Alabama are going to have a large number in the greek system. Also, The Machine at Bama pretty much runs the whole campus especially with campus politics.

I was talking about what fraternity/sorrority members in general wear to football games in my post. It can be expanded to include the shorts/theme T-shirts/ and flip flops and sunglasses as well during the warm months and the same pullovers during the colder months.

I think one major misconception people have about fraternities on gamedays is that everyone "dresses up" and why they would do that in the heat. It was only the pledges that dressed up and not because they wanted to either. They dressed up strictly out of tradition and the fact that pledges had always been required to wear coat and tie to mark themselves as pledges. There is a reason you constantly see those all dressed up heading back and forth to the concession stands with cokes and hot dogs. It's because actives are constantly flagging them down and sending them to the concession to pick up drinks and food for them.

With the increase in campus population and more out of state students, I can see the Machine at Alabama diffusing a bit.

I was greek at Alabama and while not in Machine, I was about as familiar with it as much a non-member could be. In looking back I can see how the machine holds the campus back.

My sister is a frehamn there now and apart of an Old Row Sorority. I have offered her the positives and minuses of the Machine. Hate to say it but the positives were outweighed by the minuses.

You care to elaborate on what the hell the machine is other than just an underground society?
