football than Tennessee's last SEC title in football and Kentucky's last SEC title in football. Kentucky is the last non big 6 (Bama, AU, UGA, UF, LSU, UTK) winner of the SEC.

They may not win another one. Their campus location is in an awkward location vs where talent lives. There is just too many options close to home that pays just as much to live in Knoxville.

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard lol. Knoxville is close to tons of population centers in a relatively highly regarded state with no income tax. Its 3 hours from Atlanta

People who say “X will never be good again” are just ignorant of history. Things are cyclical. We had a number of terrible AD and coaching hires that extended our cycle. We are working on it and improving, with a playoff appearance last season.

Also, worry about your own team…

Mississippi State forfeited their 1976 win over Kentucky, giving Kentucky an official 5–1 conference record and a share of the SEC title with Georgia.

It isn't pretty but I'll happily claim it

Uhh, the argument would seem to be it didn't matter in the nineties and it absolutely has matter the last two decades.

It still matters a lot. Unless you are willing to pay an average QB 4 or 5M to stay there.

UK had the choice of taking probation in 1976 or 1977. UK chose probation in 1977. In 1977 UK went 6-0 in the SEC and would have shared the title with Alabama. So, I’ll take that 1976 title, however it came about.

I was at the Peach Bowl when we stomped UNC. Coldest I have ever been. At that time none of us knew we were SEC co-champs.

We beat Penn State in both seasons.

Am I missing something? Your link shows Kentucky losing to Georgia, Kansas and Maryland, but shows them with a 4-2 record in the SEC.

Did Kansas and Maryland join the SEC at some point?
Georgia and Kentucky both had a 5-1 record in conference. Georgia would get the nod for head to head, but technically they are co-champions.

Wiki strikes again.

You'd better go back and check out that record again. Or should we say, "He's a Gator, you can't expect too much."?

So no more getting pissy when I exclude UGA's vacated wins in basketball.

So NOW you want to ignore what actually happened on the field.
